GOOO CUBBIES

Marquis please please please don't be your inconsistent self.

I stand corrected.

The Brewers will turn to Dave Bush (6-6), who is 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA in two starts against the Cubs this season. The right-hander is 1-4 with a 4.15 ERA in seven career starts against Chicago.

All you guys thinking we'll do good against Bush, doesn't he usually own the Cubs?

Looking at the pitcher vs batter matchups, Bush does own the Cubs, but it is telling that the batter with the most ABs against him is Jones (who will not be playing today, Lou willing). Izturis is one of the top few in ABs against Bush, and is awful. Not surprisingly, they have struggled.

Most of the Cubs everyday players either crushed Bush (ARam, Soriano, DeRosa, Floyd) or had so few ABs against him that the sample size is tiny (5 or so ABs). The only exception is Lee, who has struggled to hit Bush in 13 ABs.

I think we win this one as well. Bush is there to be had. Not that Marquis isn't.

But I just have this feeling that no matter what happens today, yesterday killed any momentum the Cubs might have gotten from this series. Friday was crushing for the Brewers, but they responded like a division-winning club should. By kicking our teeth in.

So no matter what happens today, I think the Brewers have shown more than the Cubs.

I disagree - if we finish with a win and take 2 of 3 we will still have momentum heading into our next series.

A series win is a series win, whether you get crushed in one game out of three or crush your opponent twice. If we win to of three, I'll be satisfied with the series. i don't think winning two of three against the division leader will have any detrimental effect on the team.

I think that's ridiculous. If we take two of three, we win the series. They don't give style point.

Today is a big game for the Cubs but I dont think it's make or break either way (the goal all along was to win the series and they still have the opportunity to do so). "Momentum" is only as good as the next day's pitchers. If the Cubs win today they would have gone 5-1 on the homestand and won 8 of 9 games overall. I can't see how that's a bad thing... The Cubs will be playing the Nationals and Pirates next (as will the Brewers) there's really no reason to believe that yesterday's loss will dictate how they play the remainder of the games before the All Star Break.

It think this years stats is a little slanted by one game where in the first 2 innings I think we tagged him for like 6 or 7 and then he pitched a couple of shutout innings, and in the second one I seem to remember him looking real good for most of the game and then had one bad inning (which seems to be his big problem this year/his career)

I don't know, they didn't mention DeRo but it's hard not to put Floyd in RF too.

I sure hope Aram doesn't get a day off today.

That's true but those innings count. The "one bad inning" plagues a lot of mediocre pitchers (defines them actually). Bush is normally the type of pitcher that teams can eventually get to...

No way Lou does that in such an important game.

yea all that talk about momentum gone if we win this series is ridiculous....i mean they weren't gonna sweep this seris, imo...they needed to just win the series and win the other series because then they can just worry about pickin up 5.5 games somewhere else the rest of the way. so dammit cubs....WIN THE SERIES

If the Cubs win today, they'll be 6.5 back, not 5.5.

yea all that talk about momentum gone if we win this series is ridiculous....i mean they weren't gonna sweep this seris, imo...they needed to just win the series and win the other series because then they can just worry about pickin up 5.5 games somewhere else the rest of the way. so dammit cubs....WIN THE SERIES

Please be in April form Marquis.....PLEASE

If the Cubs win today, they'll be 6.5 back, not 5.5.

Better than 8.5 back.
