i think the brewers, after yesterday, have decided to stop screwing around.

Or they just get the lucky break of facing Eyre. Teeing off on him really isn't that impressive.

eyre started the game and gave up 7 over 2?

OK, they faced two crappy pitchers today. As we saw yesterday, good pitching shuts them down, just like anyone else.

marshall pitched exceptionally this year, wouldn't you agree?

Which doesn't magically make him a good pitcher today.

doesn't make him a crappy pitcher, either? i wasn't the one making those kind of statements.

I'm making the statement that Marshall is a crappy pitcher today, just like Hill was yesterday. Am I wrong?

Yes. Both Hill and Marshall are good pitchers who sucked in their most recent starts.

THAT'S WHAT I SAID.

Jesus Christ.

I was agreeing with you. Settle down, skippy.

the brewers certainly made him look crappy.

Anyone can look crappy on any given day. I'm sure Cy Young even had plenty of bad starts. Enough with the ridiculous overreacting people.

As much as he has been good before today, Sean Marshall is not projected to be a front of the rotation starter in the MLB. He is a decent starter who pitched an awful game. That happens. If you were watching him pitch, then you saw that he was unable to get his curveball below the belt for the whole game, and it cost him.

i never said he was. again, i wasn't making the hyperbolic statements about him.

Yeah, I'm not sure in the long run Sean is even going to be a 'decent' starter. He's done this before, starting off good for a few starts and then losing it. Can't keep sending him back to the minors forever. Eventually, he'll either need to find long term consistency or he'll be done.

fielder gets one off the end of the bat, high and into a heavy gale and it's off the top of the wall. we have no one on this team capable of something like that.

brewers are winning the division, and they deserve it.

Right, if you really believe that guys like Estrada, Hardy, Jenkins, Hart will continue to way outpeform their career numbers. I think they come back to the pack in the second half big time. Hell even Prince Fielder is having a career year.

Estrada is actually having a below average year right now, other than his injury plagued 2005 he's been a .770+ OPS catcher. Hart projected as a .900ish OPS player so he could keep it up. Jenkins is doing exactly what would be expected of his 3 year average against righties. Hardy I'll give you though. This team is not playing over its head for the season.

Who in the hell predicted a 900OPS for Hart? Find me one publication that did.

His PECOTA 75th percentile is 904. His weighted mean is 870, so yeah, the most accurate projection system predicted it. He did OPS over 800 in the majors and over 900 MLE in the minors last year.

Ok, I guess I will have to concede some thought he would be pretty good. Just curious what did they project Murton as?

Probably right around where his BABIP normalized MLE is for this year since hes playing more than once a week in Iowa. PECOTAs weakness is it doesnt do a great job of factoring in incompetent management.

And obvioiusly its not going to be exactly correct about everyone, thats a ridiculous thought.

Yeah, I'm not going to give the brewers any more credit than they deserve. Marshall had a bad game and Eyre's been bad all season! The Cubs have beaten them more than they've beaten us so I don't buy the idea that they are better.

If the Cubs can't comeback today they still have the opportunity to win the series and that's all that really matters.

Insulting?

Look, this is two days in a row where people are jumping on me for making "ridiculous statements" when I don't think I have. I'll be the first to cop to my hyperbole 'cuz Lord knows I revel in it sometimes. It just gets annoying when people start nitpicking my posts for no reason at all.

It is now.

i seriously don't see a lineup weakness for the brewers right now. possibly when mench starts, but that's it.

Just think where theyd be if they had Braun up the whole time.
