Sadness.

Everytime the Cubs come to Coors, we irritate the Rockies and their fans because we are loud, vocal, drunk, and outnumber them 4 to 1. Its a sea of blue with purple polka dots.

A few years ago, the Rockies openly complained to the newspaper and league office after the raucousness of the Sosa and Prior show one night left them speechless. I think the Cubs won something like 15 to 2 and Mark and Sammy were just lights out, Sammy hit 2 or 3 HRs in that one, including a long long long one into the upper deck. One of the most memorable games i have ever seen.

For their part, the Rockies and the parasites that live near the field jack up prices on us, but thats cool, b/c we are going to see the Cubbies. They also really jacked up prices on the Yankees fans this past week. Parking near the field was $60 in some spots.

With that said, we have apparently been dethroned as the most obnoxious fans. After the Yankees visited last week, the RMN ran a poll and the Yankees fans are now viewed as the most obnoxious to grace Coors by a margin of 43% to 28%. Boston is 3rd at 15%. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/mlb/0,2777,DRMN_23924,00.html

Guess Sully, me, and a couple of others need to really represent Aug 9 thru Aug 12th. So get your tickets guys, lets show them what Cubdom is all about. (No fights though, thats uncool).

My sister lives in Denver and goes to games out there a lot. She said that Denver fans hate it when the Cubs come, because it turns into Wrigley Field West. They call the Cub fans obnoxious because they're outnumbered 4 or 5 to 1. The Cubs fans are obviously going to be louder when that is the case. If they don't like it, then Rockie's fans should just buy more tickets.

It was amazing how many Cub fans there were at the Cubs/Rangers game I went to in Arlington. The place was packed, and I can't remember seeing any Rangers hats/jerseys/etc.

I don't think any team's fans support their team on the road quite like CUBS fans do. As Abe pointed out, we totally dominated the Ballpark at Arlington this past week. It was great !! Same thing goes for Atlanta, Pittsburgh, the west coast teams, you name it. As long as the local fans create a vacuum by not filling their stadium, the CUBS' fans will.

On a personal note, I have a sister that moved out to Breckenridge a couple of years ago, and I had every intention of visiting her there when the CUBS hit town last year. Circumstances intervened, and I needed to stay home to attend the baby shower (at Sluggers on Clark St, of course) for my grandson Ryne, so the trip to Coors had to be canceled. This year, the CUBS are going to Denver on the very same weekend, so it will be Ryne's first birthday. Well, I can't miss that party, now can I ???

Oh well, I will get to Coors one of these years !!

Me too. And forget about the $60 parking, just take the light rail to Union Station and you are right there. This will be my fist time seeing the Cubs since I moved out here, so I am really excited.
