More from the game notes....

ARMS RACE: Since June 2, Cubs pitching has recorded a 3.01 team ERA (66 ER/197.1 IP), tops in the majors … San Diego is second with a 3.25 ERA.

The Cubs have a .216 batting average against in their last 22 games, far and away the best mark in the majors since June 2 … the Athletics are second with a .240 mark. ©

Since June 2, Cubs relievers have stranded 23-of-24 of their inherited runners, good for a 95.8-percent rate of success that ranks tops in baseball (Texas is second with a 86.7-percent mark/26-of-30).

The Cubs have gotten some outstanding pitching this month. I hope it continues on this homestand.

Since no roster move has been made, is it safe to assume Jones is gone tomorrow?

I would say so. Considering Dempster isn't available today, and Marquis isn't exactly known for his quality starts as of late, its quite a gamble to leave 10 pitchers available for this game, meaning that there has to be some good reason why a roster move wasn't made

This offense reminds me a lot of the Marlins 2003 offense. With a little more pitching this team could be a world series contender

Darn....well if DeRosa doesn't get on, at least we are swinging the bats decently, but I cant help but think we wasted a good scoring chance
