As bad as the Soriano contract is, it's nowhere near as awful as Pierre's. Soriano will be at least a very good if not a great player over the first few years of his deal, and a decent but not spectacular player the last few (think Moises Alou). Pierre won't be good ever.

What I just dont understand about this is even with a strong 2nd half last year he finished with below average numbers for a lead-off man. Being good for half a year doesnt make up for an overall bad season. Still the Dodgers gave him a silly contract with better players waiting in their system.

We should come up with an all-grindy team. Maybe even an all-time grindy team. Maybe Pete Rose can get into the Hall of Grind.

No, he was actually really good.

You have to suck, but "play the game hard" to be a grinder.

All I know is that Eckstien would be my starting SS on the all grinder team.

The Phillies teams from back in their mullet era were the grindiest ever. Those guys ground in their sleep.

Problem is, a lot of those guys are too good to make this team. Darren Daulton ended up being a very good hitting catcher. Kruk could hit. Lenny Dykstra is probably the ultimate grinder, but he was incredible in 1993, and was generally a very good player when he wasn't busy hurting himself. I'd say if you're looking for a grinder on that team who fits on the "overrated grinder" team, it's probably either Inky or Dave Hollins.

neifi has to be at 2B.

I swear I had a dream last night Neifi was playing 3rd for the Cubs.

It was horrible.

So, now that Tejeda's streak will be over soon (and it was the 5th longest in MLB history), guess who becomes the new leader with just over 700 straight?

And i got this from BT tonight. The guy that anchored it was like a sports version of Kasey Kasem. I wanted to put my head in a blender and hit pulse.

For the love of god, free ravech, free boomer, free berthume, or even revsden....but no more mini Kasey Kasem.

This is why Dusty played him last year in September every game. Like Pierre having a consecitive game streak record should mean anything. The fact that he is so below average as a hitter and not a great defensive CF would only show how stupid several different managers are.
