Interesting interview with Hendry. Me thinks Len and Bob are avid softball players.

you don't seriously think they're going to grill him on WGN, do you?

Just got here, what happened to Lou?

Fat Froeming got him suspended.

c'mon, be serious. Kicking dirt on an umpire got him suspended

No. It was for suposedly making contact

which was unnecessary since the ump got the call right.

Was it childish, probably. It still doesn't change the fact that Froeming is a idiot who is making crap up.

i haven't looked at the video again since the game, but I thought at one point that he DID kick the umpire

No way

watch this

Lou comes out

After he throws hit hat, he definitely belly bumps him

then we don't see the first two kicks, but the ump reacts like lou might have made contact

then the first kick we do see is borderline

then lou backs up to kick dirt

draw your own conclusions

The ump was reacting to the dirt being kicked on him, not actually being kicked.

you were there?

I still can't believe Hendry said there are alot of good arms in the pen.

Sheesh..

I don't think it's a big deal, he's not going to come out and say "Our bullpen really blows." He's going to say optimistic things, obviously.

On the other side of town, both Kenny Williams and Ozzie are saying their pen stinks.

Ozzie also got ejected today.

Not grill...but I was hoping for a little more.

you could easily argue that dlee is the best player in baseball. as soon as his power numbers come around he won't be fair to pitch against. he just doesn't do anything wrong out there

I love D. Lee...but that would not be easy unless you were in a room full of Cubs homers.

it's that case for any player. arod, pujols, etc. everyone's gonna argue for their guy, but it's tough to take someone over a healthy dlee. especially now that it looks like he's gonna bat .350 every single year.

all i'm saying about it being "easy" is that he has average, power, discipline, speed, defense, leadership, etc. and all of them can't really be argued against.

You're also foolish if you think Hendry doesen't know how bad the BP is currently. Hes a VERY good GM when it comes to politics and positioning. He won't come out and say the Bullpen blows balls, because he doesent want to lower the value of any of the arms in the pen. Even though nobody is too steller at the moment, coming out and saying they stink will hinder any future trades or value of the players.

Hendry is well aware the BP isn't that great atm.

I think a nine run lead may even be safe for our pen.

Eyre wants to know if you'll put money on that.

will ohman will take that bet

You can read his lips saying dont you kick dirt on me. Wouldnt that be anybodys reaction when somebody starts kicking dirt on them?

fair enough, I'm just not going to jump on the "Froeming is a big fat meanie" side of the argument

Hendry's been pretty accommodating today; he was also live on The Score for about 20 minutes this morning.

lou was actually caught off guard today when asked if he kicked him. when told that bruce froeming said that lou was taken aback. he said that he and bruce are close friends and he is surprised that he would say something that was completely untrue

Its not only this instance why myself or others are saying this about Froeming. I notice him in games way more often than I do almost any other umpire. If Im noticing the umpire its prob because he is drawing attention to himself. He acts like a know it all prick out there, and he was in the wrong for putting his hands on Lou yesterday. Players or managers arent allowed to touch the ump, and the ump shouldnt be touching the manager. I mean come on I know this is the Cubs but was Froeming really concerend Lou was going to attack the ump?

1) I could careless about the trade value of Scott Eyre. He has none. And politics isn't gonna change that. I want him gone so he isn't around to cost this team games.

2) Hendry maybe be aware that the BP isn't great at the moment, but it still doesn't change the fact they he thinks simply "biding" time will fix the issues.
