And just for an added challenge the Yanks had terrible defense at both positions.

Laughable.

Girardi was an excellent catcher. Posada isnt that bad. And Jeter is pretty good (although not great at SS).

Girardi was the starter for one championship and Posada is a god at accumulating passed balls. You'd be hard pressed to find a non-Yankee fan call Posada anything better than average.

Jeter's defensive prowess is in that big book of Lies Tim McCarver told me, but that's already been addressed.
