Toronto needs relievers in a bad way! Although, they could just write-off the season due to injuries I have to wonder if they'll look to make a minor deal for an arm.

Any thoughts?

Give them Ohman if they'll take crapturis. Seems like whenever Lou uses 3-4 relievers in a single inning, Ohman is usually right in the middle of that. Time to move him elsewhere if he's the root of that phenomenom, which he has been lately.

I haven't heard anything about Eyre leaving the Blue Jays on bad terms, so my guess is that they would not be one of the 10 teams he would designate in the NTC.

There have been hints of Toronto having a fire sale. Now might be the time to make an offer for Vernon Wells. Jones, Eyre/Ohman, and Marshall for Wells. I think he becomes a free agent after this season, but Pie should be ready for next year.

Why? Ohman is a LOOGY. Lou is finally using him correctly. I don't think the absence of Ohman fixes Lou's quick hook. It just takes out the one guy that deserves the quick hook.

You think maybe if we add Rocky Cherry we could get Rios too? Maybe Dave Steib will come out of retirement and they'll give us him, too.

If they are doing a fire sale, they are not going to want major league players back in return-they'll want top prospects-especially for a player of the caliber of Wells.

Didn't Wells re-sign in the spring?

Vernon Wells a new 7 year deal w/ Toronto before the season started. I don't think they'll trade him.

I wouldn't mind Rios. The OF is already crowded though, so I'm not sure that he would be the ideal fit.

we need hoopscubs back. This season's "trade proposals" by NSBB members consist of "here's a bunch of trash we don't want, let's foist it all on a team who will subsequently give us one of their best players"

Those are always 95% of the trade proposals here.

I think it really just goes with the whole message board community idea. I'm sure SoSH gets just as many of them.

right, but people should at least try to separate "wishful thinking" from "realistic idea." I mean, think about the players you're throwing in these trades - Eyre, Jones, Izturis, Marshall, etc. If you're so eager to get rid of them, do you really think other teams are willing to give much up for them? Probably not.

I agree that some trade proposals are "wishful thinking", but it depends on the teams involved and their specific needs or mood. If a team needs a LOOGY to win their division, Eyre might be valuable trade commodity. Jones could have value to a team that needs a platoon OF. If a team is having a "fire sale", Marshall could be part of a trade proposal for an expensive veteran. As for Izturis, let's not forget the Tigers thought they needed a defensive IF (Neifi Perez) late last year. So let's not give up on the Izturis for Cabrera trade just yet :).

Yeah, it's true. In trade threads way too often I end up turning around the scenario and asking the poster if he would be happy with the proposed deal if he were a fan of the other team. The answer is usually an obvious "hell no". I remember some of the ideas to get Carl Crawford. They were are all pretty hideous from the Rays' point of view.
