If you go to cubs.com, you'll see they have a poll for who should be the fifth starter. For some reason, Sean Marshall is leading Angel Guzman. Is anyone else as confused as I am? Marshall basically had all of last year to prove himself and basically stunk most of the season. Guzman has been a top prospect with a long injury history but seems to finally be healthy and had a great spring. So who is picking Marshall in this poll anyway?

I say Sean Marshall because I have an autographed baseball with his and Murton's sigs on them, and I want it to be worth something. :D

I think Sean Marshall was pretty solid for a rookie. If we were going to base everything on first impression I am guessing Hill would not be starting right now.

I would rather have Guzman also, but think that Marshall still has value. If a starter got hurt now I would rather have Marshall than Miller.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable question to ask, seeing as last year Marshall was better than Guzman.

I'm as hopeful for Guzman as the next guy, but until potential turns into consistent production at the MLB level, he absolutely needs to be weighed against an alternative like Marshall.

Amazing_Grace, I'm with you. Guzman is the much better choice. But people are, by and large, probably choosing Marshall just because they remember him being up all year last year and pitching a good game or two. Whereas those that remember Guzman at all probably just remember his few outings, when he got shelled.
