Argh....another WCIU game?

WCIU games should be outlawed.

WCIU looks like the game was broadcasted 15 years ago.

WCIU/Cubs Net is WGN produced. Then again, WGN's production could use some upgrading.

WGNs production looks 10 times better than WCIU.

The looks might be different but the same people are behind the scenes. They probably look to save money because the broadcast is limited to the immediate area.

...WCIU also carries selected telecasts of the Chicago Cubs, White Sox, and Bulls, produced by WGN-TV. Occasionally, the station will air Bears and various NCAA sports games, which are produced by ESPN.

WCIU's programming is horrible. I believe MLB and or FCC limitations, on the number of games that one network can carry, is the only reason why WCIU broadcasts any Cubs games. Luckily, WCIU only gets about 8 Cubs games per season (meanwhile, they broadcast about half of the Sox games allotted for WGN Sports).

Hill has to be on top of his game because Duke owns us.

Haven't the Cubs beaten twice in a row? He had owned the Cubs in his first four starts against them (back he owned everyone for awhile), but I think the Cubs, like everyone else apparently, will figure him out tonight.

Murton should definitely start - he owns Duke.

Well, he's 4-1 with a 1.40 ERA against them. Last year he was 2-1 with a 1.86. The last time they faced him, the Cubs won, but they couldn't touch him, with 0 ER in 7 innings (Cubs won it off Grabow in the 8th). The outing prior to that, however, the Cubs roughed him up for 5 in 6 IP and he lost. He had beaten them twice in the first few weeks of the season. The one time they did beat him, they scored 4 in the first on a bunch of singles and groundballs. Then he shut them down for the next 5 innings until Murton went deep with a solo shot.

So, not sure if they did figure him out, since it was basically one inning of back to back to back to back ground ball singles that got to him and then he had 12 more solid innings against them. But yes, Murton should start.

(Min.100IP)

Here's to Rich adding a 15th quality Start!

Thanks to Carlos Zambrano’s strong 7.0 innings Saturday, Cubs starters have now totaled 14 quality starts in their first 23 games this season…by the same token, the Cubs had only 11 quality starts in the entire month of April in 2006.

Individual highlights among the Cubs rotation: Ted Lilly is one of only 13 major league pitchers with 5 quality starts in 2007…Rich Hill ranks 4th in the N.L. with a 1.57 ERA and 2nd in the league with a .146 batting average against while Lilly ranks 5th at .178…

Overall, Cubs starters are holding the opponent to a .228 batting average (119-for-523), tied with the Mets for the best mark in the National League (tied for 3rd in the majors).

The Cubs tonight face only their 3rd left-handed starting pitcher of the season in Zach Duke…Chicago previously faced Atlanta southpaw Mark Redman on April 19 (a 3-0 win) and Milwaukee lefty Chris Capuano on April 8 (a 9-4 loss)…the Cubs have faced fewer left-handed starters than any other team in baseball…next closest are Seattle (vs. 4 lefties in 2007), Arizona (vs. 5) and Pittsburgh (vs. 5).

Derrek Lee has reached base safely in his first 23 games played this season, hitting safely in 21 of those contests…since 1960, no Cub has reached base in his first 23 games of the season…the last Cub to reach base safely in 24 games in a row was Aramis Ramirez from September 2-27, 2003…

Lee ranks 2nd in the National League with a .391 batting average, while his 13 doubles tie Philadelphia’s Chase Utley for most in the league.

Cubs relievers have stranded their last 23 inherited runners dating to April 13 vs. Cincinnati, including 12 runners over the team’s last 7 games, and rank 2nd in the majors by having stranded 89.2 percent of their inherited runners this season…overall, Chicago’s bullpen has stranded 33 of 37 inherited runners in 2007.

The Cubs are the only bullpen in the majors without a win this season.

great now everyone is doing this

It's almost as bad as that one picture of Gabrielle Union that kept taking up space on my screen every time I'd try to read a game thread.

I love the line-up.. but it would've made sense to put Cedeno at SS given his success against Duke...

I will still take this line-up any day.

I would have liked to've seen...

2. Murton (RF)

3. Lee (1B)

4. Ramirez (3B)

7. DeRosa (2B)

8. Pie (CF)
