I'm debating a series of moves in my 12 team, standard categories(AVG, R, HR, RBI, SB) league

I have:

C Barrett

1B Helton

2B Kendrick

SS Tejada

3B Chipper

OF Sizemore

OF Magglio Ordonez

OF Hawpe

UT Cuddyer

BN Teahen

BN Tulowitzki

BN Freel

BN Iannetta

I'm considering offering Teahen and Freel for Dunn and Jhonny Peralta(pretty much a straight swap of positions, hoping for a difference in how we value those guys), and then(if accepted) offering Tejada and Hawpe/Magglio for Manny and adding Upton. Any thoughts? I could also target Glaus instead of Manny in the second trade, as the player has Glaus, Atkins, and Crede but only K. Greene at SS. Actually, Glaus makes more sense as a target so he can play SS and Dunn gets into the lineup. So anyway, I proposed the first trade, comments would be appreciated.

I think your first trade will get shot down. Dunn is playing really well right now and Peralta seems to be bouncing back to good form nicely. Freel is only good for steals, and even then the rest of his numbers are unspectacular thus far, and Teahen is performing worse than I would and I suck at sports.

If I had Manny, I'd go ahead and trade for Tejada and Hawpe/Ordonez, since Manny's value is low right now since he's struggling, but of course he's Manny Ramirez and is likely capable for .300-30-110 at least once he picks up steam.

I wouldn't do that trade for Glaus. I wouldn't even trade Tejada for Glaus straight up, let alone throw in another player for Glaus. Glaus will give you lots for home runs, but if you look at his career numbers, for a guy who can hit between 35-45HR, he puts up weak RBI numbers (111 career best), and has a consistent ~.250AVG to boot.

If you can get Manny for Tajada straight up, I'd probably do it, but Tejada, while his HR numbers appear to be declining, can still put up high AVG and RBI totals, which could be a good selling point... that and Ramirez is trash right now and is likely pissing his owner off since he probably drafted him in the first or second round, while Tejada is performing well enough to warrant keeping him instead of Manny if there was a gun to your head and you had to choose.

In conclusion:

1) I don't think your first trade will go through, you're essentially trying to trade players who are performing poorly for players who are performing great

2) The 2nd trade needs some tweaking. I wouldn't go for Glaus if you're giving up Tejada, since he has more value, but I'd try and get Ramirez.

Thanks for the thought out response.

On the first deal, I'm basically banking on it being somebody who overvalues Teahen(he's either a Royals or Cardinals fan, like everyone in the league except me) and/or having an irrational hatred of Dunn. I'm also hoping for more of a reputation view of Freel/Peralta, remembering Freel's steals and versatility, and remembering Peralta's crappy 2006(fortunately he doesn't have Peralta starting).

On the second deal, I've been after Glaus for quite a while because he can add power at SS. My team is littered with guys who are either a plus in AVG or at least won't hurt me(Dunn would be one if I got him), so I think I can afford to give away some AVG to get the extra HR that Glaus will provide. That said, I certainly don't mind going after Manny, but if the Dunn deal goes through then I'd be benching one of Hawpe/Ordonez while having Peralta/Tulowitzki at SS. Not quite the net gain I'd hope for. Maybe if the Dunn deal doesn't happen I'll try a larger deal for Glaus+Manny, I know for sure that guy is a huge Teahen fan.
