Iowa's game was suspended in the 6th for some reason. Anyone got the low-down?

Repercussions from the snow storms currently blanketing the Midwest are being felt as far west as New Mexico.

Thursday afternoon's game between the Albuquerque Isotopes and the visiting Iowa Cubs was postponed in the sixth inning due to concerns over the Isotopes' impending travel plans.

The Isotopes had originally been scheduled to travel to Omaha on Friday morning, in order to begin a four-game set with the O-Royals. However, approximately a half an hour prior to the start of Thursday's game, the club found out that their flight to Omaha had been cancelled. Making matters worse, all other Friday flights to Omaha were already completely booked.

The team's only recourse was to split the team in half, in order to fit them on two Omaha-bound flights leaving later this afternoon. This meant that the game in progress had to be suspended.

"None of the players had packed, and none of our equipment was ready to go," explained Isotopes Public Relations Director Steve Hurlbert. "Our only option was to suspend today's game at 2 p.m., in order to allot the players enough time to go home and get what they needed. We'd exhausted every other possible scenario, and after lengthy deliberations determined that this was the only way to go.

Bah. Samardzija gives up a solo homerun in the bottom of the 3rd. It's 2-1 Vero Beach going to the top of the 4th.

Peoria suffers their first loss of the season in game one, 4-0. Albuquerque and Pawelek's lines in my earlier post were their final lines. Julio Castillo pitched a shutout 7th inning for Peoria. Blake Lalli had Peoria's only hit in the game.

Daytona ties it up at 2 in the bottom of the third.

Sounds like Colvin hit a solo shot. He's got a double and a homer so far in the game.

He did!

Bah, Samardzija gives up a 2-out double in the fourth inning. Jeff works around it.

2-2 in the middle of the fourth. Samardzija: 4 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 1 HR

THE DON is having some serious control problems in the 2nd. He's walked the bases loaded, nobody out.

Haha, the announcers just compared Tyler Colvin to Grady Sizemore. Colvin got a single and SB in the fifth. He's now 3 for 3 and a triple shy of the cycle.

Daytona leads it 3-2 in the middle of the 5th.

This is Colvin's first game batting since game number 1 right? If so, that's a great very, very early start-5 for 6 with 2 SB and 1 HR.

Ugh.

Ugh. He struck out 2 guys in a row, and looked like he was going to get out of the jam, but then gave up an rbi single to the pitcher and then walked in another run. He finally gets out of it after giving up 2 runs. 2-0 Huntsville. He's really struggling with the command.

Jake Fox made a spectacular catch to end the inning. Apparently he ran through a gate after making the catch. He came back into the field of play with the ball though.

No, he played both games yesterday, going 1/7 with a double and K.

Oh-well, oops. 6/13 doesn't sound quite as good as 5/6, but it's still very good...that's a .462/.462/.846 line so far. Again though, it can change in the blink of an eye at this point.
