Another boring day for starting pitchers. Gutierrez looks like a pretty good prospect for the Astros, he is only 24 and last year he went 8-4 with a 3.02 ERA in 103.2 IP. He also sported a 106/34 K/BB ratio and a .232 BAA.

Hey CR, which site/formula do you use for finding BAA? I used (base hits by opponents) / [(innings pitched x 3) + (base hits by opponents)] to find Gutierrez's BAA and wanted to check it with Walrond against what you had listed. When I used that formula I came out with a .251 BAA in the minors and a .253 BAA if you include his major league stats.

You said it. So why are Marshall and Mateo still in extended spring training?

MiLB.com has their BAAs listed.

The problem with your formula is that it doesn't take into account CSs and GIDPs which are outs without ABs.

Not enough arm strength to start at Iowa after injuries during spring training.

Ok, I got Gutierrez's info off of The Baseball Cube, and they didn't have his BAA listed. I didn't know the formula to find it, but I got that formula off of wikipedia. Do you know a good site for finding stat formulas?

CR, are you listening to the Tennessee game or just following it through MiLB? If you're listening to it, how has Fox been in RF?

IowaCubs.com"]Hunter Pence drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning to give Round Rock a 2-1 victory over Iowa in the opener of Sunday's doubleheader.

Mark Saccomanno got things started in the inning with a leadoff double, then moved to third on Mike Rodriguez's sacrifice bunt. After intentional walks to Josh Anderson and Eric Bruntlett, reliever Ben Howard walked Pence to force in the winning run.

Saccomanno had two hits for the Express (2-1). Cody Ransom's run-scoring double in the fifth knotted the game, 1-1.

Round Rock starter Juan Gutierrez allowed one run on four hits while striking out two and walking two in five innings. Mark McLemore and Paul Estrada (1-0) followed with a scoreless inning apiece.

Felix Pie rapped a two-out single in the first and moved to second on a botched pickoff attempt, before scoring the lone run for the Cubs (1-2) on Koyie Hill's single.

IowaCubs.com"]Chad Reineke combined with two relievers on a one-hitter as Round Rock completed a doubleheader sweep of Iowa with a 1-0 victory on Sunday.

Reineke (1-0) put together a dominating performance, one day before celebrating his 25th birthday. He retired the first 13 batters before Scott Moore singled with one out in the fifth inning.

"I threw him one of my changeups, it was a good one, and he got out in front of it and poked it to center," said Reineke.

"I didn't use much of anything other than my fastball. Hitters don't like to hit when it's cold out, plus there was a gusting wind."

Reineke was lifted for pinch-hitter Mark Saccomanno following a walk to Barry Wesson and a double by Danny Ardoin in the fifth. He allowed one hit with three strikeouts and didn't walk a batter.

"I knew I was coming out of the game if we had a runner on and it was my turn to bat," Reineke said.

Reliever Cory Bailey uncorked a wild pitch that scored Wesson with the game's lone run.

Philip Barzilla walked one in the sixth and Jose Rodriguez tossed a 1-2-3 seventh to notch his first save for Round Rock (3-1).

Moore and Angel Pagan, who walked in the sixth, were the only base runners for the Cubs (1-3).

SmokiesBaseball.com"]Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville Suns broke up a perfect game from Tennessee Smokies starter Kevin Hart with an eight-run sixth inning and held on for an 8-2 Easter Sunday victory at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

The Suns improved to 2-2 with the win while the Smokies fell to 2-2 in the loss. Monday’s finale will decide a series winner.

The Tennessee offense put solo homeruns on the board in the second and third innings, one each from Matt Craig and Issmael Salas to open a 2-0 advantage.

That lead seemed safe as Smokies starter Kevin Hart, in his first Double-A outing, did not allow a base-runner in his first five innings of work.

Jacksonville catcher A.J. Ellis led off the sixth inning with a slow groundball through the left side of the infield which broke up the perfection and warmed up the Suns bats. Anthony Raglani followed with a double and Wilkin Ruan next singled home Ellis to cut the Smokies lead to 2-1. Following a Luis Maza walk, Chin-Lung Hu doubled down the right field line to plate two more runs and give the Suns their first lead at 3-2. The Hu hit also knocked Hart out of the game in favor of reliever Greg Reinhard. The tall right-hander next allowed a walk to Cory Dunlap and a sacrifice fly from Marshall McDougall that extended the Suns lead to 4-2. Luke Allen drove home another run with a single to right-centerfield that made it 5-2. Next John Lindsey stepped in as a pinch hitter and blasted a Reinhard pitch over the leftfield wall for a three-run homerun to finish the scoring at 8-2.

In the sixth inning Jacksonville sent twelve batters to the plate and scored eight runs on eight hits.

Alvis Ojeda pitched five innings in the start for the Suns, allowing both Smokies homeruns. Carlos Alvarez picked up the relief win while Smokies starter Kevin Hart fell in the loss.

Des Moines Register"]Round Rock, Texas - Iowa lost both games of a Pacific Coast League doubleheader Saturday against Round Rock, and the Cubs dropped three of four games against the Express.

The Cubs (1-3) managed just one run on six hits during Saturday's losses.

"We had a couple balls hit good, but we did not have a lot of quality at-bats," Iowa manager Buddy Bailey said. "We didn't have many opportunities to plate a lot of runs. We're hitting too many fly balls."

Round Rock won the opener on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Mark Saccomanno doubled to lead off the seventh and advanced to third on pitcher Mike Rodriguez's sacrifice bunt.

Bailey decided to walk Josh Anderson and Eric Bruntlett to set up a force at any base. He also replaced Hector Almonte with Ben Howard, but Howard walked Hunter Pence, bringing in the winning run.

Iowa's Les Walrond pitched five solid innings, striking out four batters, but failed to get any run support.

The Cubs' only run of the opener came in the first inning on Koyie Hill's two-out single.

Both teams had only one hit apiece in the nightcap, but a run-scoring double by Round Rock's Danny Ardoin off Iowa's Ryan O'Malley in the fifth inning was the difference.

O'Malley, who took a no-hitter into the fourth inning, took the loss, giving up the one hit and striking out one in 4innings and only two runs allowed from the starting pitchers, and you don't win either ballgame, it tells you how it went," Bailey said.

Iowa, which finished the series by scoring nine runs and had only two extra-base hits, will open its second series of the season against Albuquerque today at 7:35 p.m. at Isotopes Park.
