Southern League Trivia Time:

What former Southern Leaguer is the only player to follow up an AL ROY campaign with an MVP the next season?

Let's have some fun with the opening night. If you want to be eligible, simply post that you want to be entered. One person will be chosen to win a signed card of Micah Hoffpauir. The cool thing about the card is that they were not included in the team sets last year and was specially printed for Micah in the offseason.

Speaking of awards, we still owe a shirt to someone (Brian?) for last season. He won but the Jaxx never got the shirt he wanted back in stock. I'll make it a point to get something in its place since that never worked out last year.

I hereby entereth the Micah card contest! gotta win something, since the wrigley club is trying hard to make my season predictions wildly over-optimistic

As strange as it is for you guys to say Smokies, it's REALLY strange to not have the Cubs here.. good luck to the Smokies (until they play us of course)

Robinson C

Cates 2B

Simokaitis SS

Gallagher P

One complete in Jacksonville, no score.

Gallagher with a K and a BB. He got squeezed on a 2-2 pitch on the batter that ended up with the BB!

Colvin is now 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a stolen base.

ETA: Now MiLB.com has it right in the first inning - Spears scored on a balk, so no SB for either he or Colvin in the first inning.

In the top of the third inning:

Tyler Colvin singles, steals second and scores on a Ryan Norwood RBI single. 2-0 Daytona.

For some reason, I was getting no commercials at all between innings, just fast cuts.

Now commercials in the middle of the 3rd.

Bottom 2nd:

Allen CF

2-base error on Jake Fox in LF, ball bounces off his glove

Paul CF

3 unassisted (though the ball bounced & hit Dopirak in the chest), runner to 3B

Raglani LF

K called on a 3-2 pitch!

Ellis C

1-3 on a tough dribbler on the grass between 3rd & home

Top 3rd:

Cates - Simokaitis - Gallagher go in order

Elbert has retired 9 Smokies in a row.

With two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Mitch Atkins gave up a single and an RBI triple to Brevard County. The game is tied 2-2 after 4 innings.
