Andy has already accepted a job to do play by play for the Padres (I've heard him call games against the Cubs this ST). The new guy will take over Masur's former duties.

The article also says he will probably make his WGN radio debut on Saturday with the Cubs in Las Vegas.

Hopefully he's got a good voice. We will have to hear it every pre-game and post-game show. And half of the 7th inning too. .

I think it's the entire 7th now.

I've always been curious, why doesn't Pat Hughes call the whole came? Is it something in his contract, or does WGN want to avoid having to pay one play-by-play guy for a full 9 innings? I mean, if the game goes into extra innings, Pat still calls those. So why do they need this stand-in guy?

I liked Andy, but always thought it was strange that he only stepped in for a half inning, the same inning, every game. Never varied. He was obviously there in the booth for the whole game, "tracking the scores" as Pat says.

Congrats to him on his new gig, must be nice calling a whole game for a change.

I think pat has it in his contract he can exit the 7th inning for a snack, and bathroom break. And he just uses it every game. I don't know.

I personally found Andy's voice to be really annoying.

"Andy Mazur here wih the outoftown scoreboard"

Good riddance.

I'm sure Andy was a nice guy and all, but just about anyone could have replaced him.

I think its smart business to keep grooming younger people to step in. I know in Mazur case it may have back-fired.

Amen to that! I guess Ron Burgundy wasn't available to do Pad's games???

He had the best gig in baseball. Now he'll be exposed!
