What did PECOTA forecast for Cedeno last year? From my memory Bill James was real high on him, but I don't remember anything specific from PECOTA. Cedeno's a better case study for comparing to Pie than Dubois all things considered.

I don't have a 2006 Baseball Prospectus with me, but Beyond the Box Score referred to Cedeno's 2006 projection as "pessimistic."

Maybe Craig is thinking of the Bill James projection?

These guys are talking like the Brewers are going to have the best offense in the NL. riiiiight

It should be awfully good. They do think Estrada is a better hitter than he really is, though. And Hardy should be hitting 7th or 8th, not 2nd.

They won't even have the best offense in the division.

The Brewers could have one of the worst defensive teams however.

Are they the same announcers that do the regular season games? Those dudes are brutally awful.

I think so, I've heard these voice before (Uecker is not there today).

... PECOTA has been deadly accurate in recent rookie projections...

I know it turned out deadly for the Cubs the last two years, last year when Cedeno didn't come close to his PECOTA, and two years ago when DuBois didn't come close to his PECOTA.

I don't think PECOTA has ever been very good for rookies.

Cedeno's projected line from the 06 spreadsheet was .274/.320/.387. So it was a bit optimistic, but not tremendously.

Jacque is locked in at the plate.

Whatd he do now?

He singled and later scored on Ward's double.

Earlier, he hit a 3-run homer

who was pitching for that one?

Whatd he do now?

He killed 3 Brewers with his bare hands.

The announcers still like the Brewers' chances, though.

While you are all watching the game, please send an email to sports@thenewsstar.com and vote the Cubs as your home team.

The thread wasn't enough for you?

Nope. Like a true politician, I look for all avenues to get my message across.

Gotta applaud the effort.

I thought we had it last year. I think they DQ'ed some votes that they thought were suspicious. This year, I have a lot less time to get it done. But that could also work in my favor.
