The Cubs will have 2 split squad games today. Both games will start at 3:05 CT

Game 1

will be at home in Mesa Vs. the Seattle Mariners, who also have a split squad.

So far, to my knowledge, this game will not be broadcasted. IF anyone has any info on that, please let me know.

Wade Miller who is leading the race for the the 5th starter, will take on Ryan Feierabend.

Game 2

Will be away at Maryvale Vs. the Brewers, who have a full squad.

This game will be televised on WMLW - channel 41 in the Milwaukee area. It will also be available on MLB.tv's webcast.

Sean Gallagher, a Cubs prospect, will be taking on Yovani Gillardo.

And no match-ups for them. These two have yet to make it to the majors.

But the other possibility... (Thanks Laura!)

well according to the MLB.tv schedule. the CUBS vs. MIL game is suppposed to be on MLB.tv via video feed.

So maybe it will be the brewers TV broadcast that will be available to subscribers? Any way, it's not on here in chicago but looks like it might be available to us spring training MLB.tv nutz.

Yeah, I dont have MLB.tv.. I gave my best guess on how it works. I can only imagine it will be the Brewer's cast.. which also made it to MLB.tv

Sean Marshall is also expected to pitch in the Brewers game.

Thanks! I'll get the match-ups ready for him..

I'm not big on rooting against Cub players, but here's hoping that Wade Miller gets pasted.

Yeah, because having too many capable pitchers is a bad thing.

That was such a careless post. I'm hoping he kicks ass. I'd rather have Gooz in the long-man role. He still learning how to pitch. He'd make a nasty weapon coming out of the pen.

Thanks, Bruce!

I take it they'd like Miller to throw for groundball outs and wouldn't mind if Gallagher leaves a few pitches up?

My mind at work waiting for baseball games to start: :bounce:

If you guys think Wade Miller is going to be a capable ML starting pitcher once the regular season rolls around, good for you.

I'll go on being "careless" and expecting not very much from him.

There's a difference between that and rooting for him to fail.

It was a small sample size, but he sure seemed pretty capable at the ML level at the end of last year. I don't think anyone is expecting more out of him than to be a decent #5 starter and attract some attention in a trade, both things that benefit the Cubs immensely.

When I said Careless I meant rooting for a player to fail. Sorry we need all the depth we can get at the Starting postion. I don't root for any of them to fail...

I want what's best for the team in the regular season, and, IMO, what's best for the team in the regular season is for Wade Miller not to start every 5 days over Guzman.

That's my opinion. You guys are entitled to yours.

BTW, I'm not rooting for a player to fail. I'm of the opinion that Wade Miller is not a very good pitcher at this point in his career, and I am rooting for the reality of that to bear out in this small sample size today. What I don't want is for him to have another fluke good outing that will win him a job and wind up losing real games for us.

The problem is that Miller outpitched Guzman last year and is outpitching Guzman so far in Spring Training. I think we are all a little too concerned about velocity or youth.

Miller hasn't outpitched Guzman. He has, however, outlucked him. Guzman has a better WHIP, opponent's batting average, opponent's OBP, and opponent's SLG. Miller has just managed to leave runners on base which isn't going to hold up consisntently.

Neither of them have been great though. Would be nice to see Prior get back on track before the end of spring training...
