Scot Gregor / The Daily Herald"] Prior accomplished that goal Friday, throwing 4º shutout innings in a minor-league intrasquad game. The right-hander allowed just 1 hit while striking out four and walking two. Prior threw 59 pitches, 32 for strikes.

“That’s not really my concern right now,’’ Prior said of claiming the Cubs’ No. 5 starter’s job. “My concern is about just keeping things simple and getting back to throwing the ball effectively and efficiently. I’ll just let that play out.’’

Looks like Cubs.com was 'misinformed.'

SHOCKING!

I don't think this article is very good for most of it-it's worth a skim though because it has some good quotes from Prior and others (in fact, I'd probably skip towards the end of page 2 and page 3-that's where some of the good parts are)-it does talk about Prior's outing yesterday a tad which this guy was there for and also his future:

Prior will be starting Thursday's Cactus League game vs. San Diego.

Dave van Dyck / The Tribune"] Mark Prior will start Thursday's Cactus League game against San Diego and pitch four or five innings. Hill will throw the rest of the game.

Len and Bob talking about Prior's velocity during the game yesterday mention some numbers. One of them was not 90.

They said he was still "mostly hitting between 85-88." They didn't specify whether or not 88 was where he topped out.

Len wasn't quoting anyone, he was just talking about the average speed. According to published reports, Prior hit 90mph once but his speed was typically 85mph-88mph.
