The Redskins message boardgives an update on what NFL Live is saying on this....

Mort said the Bears were sort of upset the 'Skins were talking in the media before formal talks between the teams began.

But he said the two sides are now officially talking....

#6 for Briggs and #31.

Schlereth says this would be a great deal for the Redskins. He thinks getting a Pro Bowl LB like Briggs and still keeping a 1st rounder is big time for the 'Skins.

Redskins fans look to be talking themselves into liking the trade.

I do not like this deal one bit, but the guys resume is impressive. If he can actually live up to the FAT paycheck he's about to receive, then i'll be happy.

It probably would be a decent deal for the Skins, since they don't seem to mind paying sick money for players they want, despite the lack of results it has produced.

Branch's stock is falling like a rock.

Yes. Ive read many reports that his work ethic is being put into question. He appears to be out of shape at workouts. He has all the tools to be awesome something like this would be so dumb to let it get in his way. However i am a little skeptical of the criticism because he did come into the 2006 more in shape and shed some pounds than from the year before. But this is the time to not be out of shape.

Im not too concerned that he cant play the whole game because the Bears use a rotation of DL/DT, but i dont like hearing if his work ethic is being put in question.

I disagree. This is a terrible deal for the Skins. THey have a good young LB in McIntosh. THey need DLine help, hell they could even draft Landry at that postiton. They give up a top 10 pick for one of their stronger positisons on the roster. Stupid.

as for their fans

They are as clueless about building a team as their owner. Sad really.

As a Michigan fan I can say "Just say no to Branch". If we get no. 6 and don't take Landry there ought to be an investigation.

The thought of Landry in our secondary makes my pants tight. I'm not afriad to say it.

Note that Gaines Adams is also expected to be available there.

But I still want:

I've been dreaming of Landry somehow falling in our lap all offseason.

If this deal goes through Landry makes more sense.

The reason a Briggs deal isn't done is because they don't want to tie that much money up in the linebacker position. But if they took Willis at 6 how much would his salary be?

To give you an idea, AJ Hawk drafted at #5 last year got 6 years, 37.5 million.

No team has dominated the offseason talk like our beloved Chicago Bears. Most bad, but some good stuff. Im liking the Adams signing more and more everyday.

The Redskins message board is saying that Mort was on Sportscenter and said that the Bears are NOT interested in the trade, and that they were mad at the Redskins for starting the rumors.

So an hour ago he said that "they were in formal talks" and now the Bears are angry?
