where do colts fans come from?

i'm serious. i'm 28, almost 29 and i can still remember the baltimore colts--so it's not like the indy colts have a steeped and storied tradition in the NFL, add to that the fact that before peyton, they were miserable for a long time.

when i lived away from the midwest however, when i'd go to a sports bar that carried the sunday ticket so i could watch the bears, i'd always see legions of colts fans there to support their team--in some cases very obnoxiously, in other cases not so much.

i'm just wondering how they garnered so large of a fan base in such little time, in such strange places.

Harrison:

We knew that we could get to this point and have brrn growing in maturity each year. It took a team effort to get here.

We have been taking what the defenses have given us.

I missed Marvin! :x

I'm a fan of Peyton Manning.

Marvin handled himself very well.

Manning: The Bear defense looks better every time you watch the film. Their ability to create turnovers and give the offense good starting field position and their special teams is a great challenge.

Addai doesn't get a podium. He's answering questions from the stands.

Addai:

I want to take advantage of the opportunities that are given to me.

We kept our routine the same.

You have to enjoy the moment but the ultimate goal is to win the game.

Dungy:

The joy of going through the battle is having faith.

What makes a team is the way that the guys interact together.

When I came to Indianapolis, it was important to win the Super Bowl with a team that the community could be proud of. I feel proud of the way that all of our guys represent Indianapolis.

I'm never going to compromise what I believe (his faith) regardless of what job I have.

Dungy is disappointed that his mom and dad can't be there. His mom died after his last game with the Bucs and his dad last watched him coach in a loss against NE.

First off, you must have started watching football early if you can still remember the Baltimore Colts. Their last season in Baltimore was when you were 4 or 5 years old at the most.

Second, I'm not completely sure how they got fans in strange places. Of course, Indiana has embraced them. A large part of TN and part of Mississippi and Louisiana have embraced the Colts as well because of Manning. Other parts of the nation? I seriously have no idea-but I do know the Colts are the biggest draw in football now, so apparently people like to watch them (the Colts have been involved in something like 4 of the 5 highest rated regular season games over the past 5 years, and the Colts-Patriots game last week was the highest rated non-Super Bowl in 20 years).

I love being off on Media Day. :D

My mom, who is a pretty avid Bears fan, has to work on Sunday (as do a few of her fellow Bear-fan co-workers [lot of NU grads at her office]). That sucks.

That stinks Raisin. I remember working during the Syracuse vs Indiana Championship game. Luckily, I got to see the last 2 minutes live. :(

The media circus is pissing me off. Get your butts on the practice field or in the video room.

The Bears are coming off as just being happy to be there.

Is this your first superbowl?

Ok, the American Idol rejects are annoying. They just jumped in on the session with Dallas Clark with a rendition of "Take me out to the ballgame"

Reggie Wayne on the stupidest question he has been asked:

"I was asked what it's like catching a pass from Peyton Manning"

It's funny, cause you just know all the players go back and talk about the stupidest question they were asked, and the reporters all go back and talk about the stupidest response they got.

Both teams are obligated to be a part of this media circus. They aren't allowed to get their butts on the practice field or the video room at those times.

"Well....it's a little like a mop and a little like a puppet but oh boy. Does that answer your question?"

One of my favorite Simpsons quotes ever.

I had to miss the UCLA-Florida NCAA championship last April because of work...sadly I didn't miss much.

Okay, so I'm bored because the game is still too far away. I've got a discussion topic.

I'm living here in Indy and a friendly wager started to develop with a friend of mine at work (a big Colts fan). It will be something along the lines of the loser wearing something to work that would (theoretically) be embarassing. Example: one of his ideas was that I would have to wear a shirt to work that says "I Heart Joe Buck" (he's also a big Cards fan).

Anyway, he's taken it to the next level and decided to bring the whole office into this gig and has decided to solicit ideas from the entire office and they believe all Bears fans in the office (there are only three) should be subject to this bet. To reciprocate, I only think it's fair that all Colts fans in the office should be subject to the bet when the Bears win.

Let's hear some suggestions.
