He'll come back to Pittsburgh to break the record where his career started.

The 'Roids should keep him going through '09, too.

so which is it? do steroids decrease the length of your career or extend it?

yesyesyes. if a player can't stay healthy, people say the steroids killed him. if a player never gets hurt, they say the steroids make him super strong. it seems unlikely that both would be true.

Seems quite likely that not all users are taking the same thing, and not all bodies respond exactly the same way.

"Steroids", in the general sense, can lead to your body breaking down, but they can also help you recover from normal wear and tear, and prolong your peak.

so if steroids could be doing either, why does it make sense to try to use a players longevity or inability to stay healthy as evidence for steroid use?

I don't think anybody is using either as evidence. This isn't the court of law. People respond to thinks that happen outside the normal range. A great player that suddenly falls apart, or an old player that gets really good really late in his career are red flags. You'd be a moron to ignore those red flags.

didnt barry say once that boston was a racist town and he'd never play there?

yes ma'am

If San Fran backs out, and Boston offers $15 million the money will talk. Not to mention Boston will have a very legit chance to win the WS.

That would be fitting. Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays also finished their major league careers in the same cities they started (albeit for different teams).

I would *hope* Bonds isn't worth $15mil now, after even the Giants shunned him, after it is now proven he failed a drug test, after all of his B.S.

But, I have to admit, in today's baseball anything's possible.

IMO, if Bonds sullied Aaron's record as a Cub it would curse this franchise for another 100 years. Just keep him away from Cubbie Blue, that's all I care about with this bum.

If agree. Especially with his little friends that he wants to keep around.

It appears that Drew and the Red Sox finally settled their issues.

the sides agreed on language that would allow the team to opt out of guaranteed money in 2010 and 2011 if a specified pre-existing injury recurs.

The language is similar to that in Magglio Ordonez's deal with the Detroit Tigers. Boras and the players' association agreed that if the Red Sox exercise their rights under that language, neither Drew nor the union would contend that the language is unenforceable.

And the Bonds deal finally gets completed.

Link.

Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants completed a $15.8 million, one-year contract Monday night after the slugger spent hours at the ballpark being examined by team doctors.

When and if Barry Bonds ever becomes the all-time home run king, will baseball treat the moment as a big thing or nothing that special?

Amy K. Nelson

A baseball official confirmed the deal, speaking on condition of anonymity because the club had not yet announced it.

The contract was finalized nearly two months after the sides reached agreement on financial terms Dec. 7, the final day of baseball's winter meetings. Bonds had to pass a physical, and the parties had to work out complicated language regarding Bonds' behavior and what would happen if the slugger were to be indicted.
