Meh... I think its OK. I would like to have an ace, although with the three starters I have, they all have ace-ish potential with little risk (assuming Patterson is healthy). That allows me to take some risks later on in the draft. I have some low avg/sb guys, but also some high avg/sb guys to even them out. I didn't want to take Giambi, but he was such a value pick after falling so far, I had to. I had him on my team last year and traded him right before he injured his wrist, which killed his #s in the stretch. If you replace his 2006 Sept/Oct with his 2005 Sept/Oct, he finishes 99 runs, 43 HRs, 129 RBIs. Not too shabby for the end of the 11th round. Hes going to be DH'ed full time and although, his lifetime numbers are worse as a DH, you have to realize that he was mainly DH'ed when he was dinged up and fully healthy when he was playing in the field. Becoming the full time DH will allow him to stay healthy (while keeping 1B eligibility). It did wonders for Frank Thomas last year. Plus his BABIP was 33 points lower than expected last year (although hes not the swiftest of players and hits a lot of FBs).

 

Just like Dunn, I optimistically predict a 270ish avg, which shouldn't hurt too bad. Especially because they are coming from a high BB guy, so his ABs are lower than normal for a full year. If you take 2 300 avg top of the order guys who don't walk a lot and therefore get 690 ABs and average them with 2 270 avg middle of the order guys who walk a ton and therefore get 560 ABs, then guess what the average is... its not 285, its 287. It may seem like a small difference, but a couple extra points on your team's avg can be the difference between 1st and 3rd in your league.
