In my semi ritual on trying to read anything that has nothing to do with law, just got done finishing 3 Nights in August by Buzz Bissinger and I was curious on what book everyone here preferred. The classic question of whether you are a "3 nights" fan or a "Moneyball" fan or something else like "Baseball between the numbers".

i liked the rookie better

I could go with that one too. I also liked Covering the Bases. Of course those who are disciples of Bill James won't like it.

"The Mental Game" series by Harvey Dorfman is a great read. There is alot in the books that you can use in everyday life too. Then "Weaver on Strategy" is a great read. Earl Weaver was moneyball before most of the moneyball folks were out of diapers.

Moneyball.

3 Nights in August would have been better if done by a different writer, imo. The thought behind it was great, but I don't think Bissinger did a very good job with it.

I have quite a few baseball books I still need to read...
