Iwamura is expected to get a three-year contract to be worth between $7.5- and $8-million. The Rays will also have a 2010 option on Iwamura, who will have the opportunity to be a free agent at the end of the deal.

We should've sent them one of the young pitchers, Izturis, and Scott Moore for Ben Zobrist, then they wouldn't have had to sign Iwamura.

They didn't have to sign (rather bid) for Iwamura to begin with. They were smart, saw an undervalued player, and went ahead with him even though its not a point of need. One of these days they are going to start trading their position players and they are going to have a great team. Unfortunately they will still be in the AL East.
