Darren Oliver-R-Angels Dec. 11 - 8:05 pm et

Angels signed LHP Darren Oliver, who had been with the Mets, to a one-year, $1.75 million contract with a vesting option for 2008.

Oliver will earn $1.5 million next season after picking the Angels over the Giants. His $2 million option for 2008 could become guaranteed if he makes an undisclosed number of appearances. Otherwise, it can be bought out for $250,000. Oliver, who had a sub-4.00 ERA for just the second time in his career last season, will join Hector Carrasco in middle relief. He could be used as a specialist on occasion, but he's not ideal for that role.
