I understand why a lot of people are rating Pawelek so low, but if the cleaning up of his mechanics can hold, he should be a higher rated prospect (and will show it next year).

And nothing is as bad an indictment on the farm system as Ryan Harvey coming in at #8 with little argument from me.

I do think the system got a little shot this season from the 06 draft class, despite losing picks 2 thru 4 and this will be seen down the line I think.

Agreed, even if Samardizja ends up in the NFL. After reading up a lot more, I really liked some of the later picks.

I know he has had a rough go of it recently, but i am still suprised to not see Dop in the top 10.

Also a little suprising to me to see Rundle above Fox and Moore.

Wilken is the man. I think we'll have a top tier farm system in less than 4 years, assuming we don't trade away a bunch of talent.

I really like the Colvin pick.

having a lot of high draft picks this year should help, especially with that #3 pick. Wieters/Price please

I'm really praying it's Wieters.

As things are right now, I don't think I would complain with either Weiters, Price or Brackman. Weiters is who I would prefer though. It would be nice to draft a high profile, high ceiling college stud.

Jonathan Mayo posted his top 50 prospects in milb. Hard to believe that Veal isn't on there. I really don't think that any players from Rookie League should be on the list. Aside from that the list is headed by members of the Angels, Dodgers, Yankees and Mets. Are Tabata and Martinez really top 50 at this point?

I just merged your thread in here.

I definitely think Tabata and Martinez are top-50 prospects and don't think Veal is top-50. Also, Clayton Kershaw - who only pitched in a rookie league last season - certainly belongs on the top-50 list.

Please don't get me going on these "Bull#hit lists that are put out by MILB and Baseball America. These are nothing but popularity contests and look at some of the names that are on this list.....Mark Rodgers, give me a break this player hasn't done "squat" but yet he is on this list cause "his stuff is off the charts". There are definatley others players that should've been placed on this list but because of the "favoritism" that goes on with these publications will never happen. I really dont think Callis and Mayo know squat about baseball!!!!

I don't know anything about Mayo.

But I've discussed baseball with Callis and Jim really, really knows his stuff.

I had the same reaction. I haven't spoken personally with Callis, but from reading his chats, his articles on BA and his analysis of trades, I can tell that he knows a whole lot about baseball and especially about prospects.
