This may sound crazy but I figure, why not?

1. Jason Schmidt - Of the pitchers there other then Zito he may be the best. Even with the age differences I would rather see Schmidt, he knows the league and would probably cost less for less years.

2. Dave Roberts - The guy has been a productive lead off man for about 3 years now. .350's OBP and will steal about 35 to 50 bases a year!

Lineup

CF Roberts

RF Soriano

1B Lee

3B Ramirez

C Barret

LF Jones/Murton

2B DeRosa/Theriot (take your pick, but I think it will be given to DeRosa)

SS Izturis

Also I like

Roberts

Theriot (if he starts)

Soriano

Lee

Ramirez

Barret

Jones/Murton

Izturis

Theriot - just seems like a bat on the ball guy that can take a walk also. I love this about him. Seems like Lee was placed in the the 3 spot a few years ago never to move again. I'm not sure I like this, I thought he was moved there a few years ago so he could get more AB's?

Starters

Zambrano

Schmidt

Hill

4 and 5 go to a cast of others (Prior, Miller, Guzman, Marmol, Marshall, Cotts and Mateo)

As much as last year sucked for us with the starters, it was also kind of nice to know that there are some arms in the minors. Not sure how good they are/or will become but we know they are there. Also it allowed Hill to show what he can do!

BAD PART.... Hill turns into the first half Hill and not the second half. Prior and Miller hurt again. Guzman can't stay healthy, you just don't know what you are getting from Marmol, Marshall and Mateo.

It could be a replay of last season with a better offense.

Bullpen

(in no order because I'm worried about Dempster - Who will close?)

Cotts

Dempster

Eyre

Howry

Rusch (we are paying him so much he has to make the team)

Novoa

Wuertz

Ohm

Wood

A Few on the list will not start the season in Chicago, no way we carry 9 bullpen pitchers (duh)... but what ones we don't carry, I'm not sure. Just wanted to throw the list out there.

We do seem to have a large number or starters and bullpen pitchers, some good/some not so good. Will be interesting to see how things workout.

Just a thought! :)

This isn't happening, Soriano is here to lead of and he's been guaranteed that by hendry.

Why don't you just reverse it then? Kenny Lofton is a career leadoff man but he hit second last year to accomodate Furcal. Roberts would do just fine in the 2-hole, and it would (hopefully) put back-to-back .350 OBPs at the top of the order. That might not sound like much, but the last time we had anything approaching that was the end of 2003, and that turned out very well.

How so?

Roberts is quite a bit better.

I would disagree with that.

Then please, only if it's just this once, state your reasons why.

Isn't that how he makes all his points?

He ate these magic beans, dude... and he's a gamer.

I'm gonna go ahead and end this conversation now.

Dave Roberts is a Juan Pierre clone with an extra 30 points of OBP due to extra walks.

Juan Pierre stole an extra 9 bases than Roberts, but got thrown out an extra 14 times.

Roberts is better in the field (though neither is particularly good).

The only positive things Pierre does better than Roberts are strike out less and lay down a bunt... though he doesn't do either significantly better.

Personally, I'd rather stay as far away from either of them as possible... but it's rather apparent to me that Roberts has a slight edge in the battle of "who sucks the least?"
