He's going to turn into a big teddy bear.

I can feel it.

One year from now everyone will be asking where the fiery Piniella went.

Does he bring ARod?

I'm hoping Boras (God save me) is trying to convince ARod that the people of Chicago would make him forget of the "unfinished business" he has left in Noo Yawk. And trust me, ARod will never be accepted in noo Yawk.

Or perhaps somebody needs to send ARod a video copy of Nomar's first day at Wrigley and the "love" he got from the Cubbie faithful.

The Mariners were Junior's team, the Yankees are Jeter's team, the Rangers no one cared about. You'd think A-Rod would like a team to call his own, and we be it. Come Alex, join us, the water is fine....

In reality though, no way the Yankees trade him, why should they? So he's unhappy and the fans don't like him, boo hoo, he's also extremely productive. Cashman isn't stupid.

No, Cashman isn't stupid; but if A-Rod really wanted to be traded, I think Cashman would oblige him. Pitching is what the Yankees really need. I don't think the loss of A-Rod would really hurt the Yankees and their star-studded lineup.

Exactly. Trading ARod, even with his supposed "lowered value" (*Scoff-scoff*), would be like if the Cubs had wised up and took a chance trading Sammy after 2001. He can either give them an instant quality farm system or the pitching they desperately need. It's not like their offense is suddenly crippled without him.

I agree. If Cashman got a good deal for a pitcher for ARod, he would be stupid not to take it. That was the team's weakness this year and everybody knew it. That's why I'm confused as to why a lot of people say the Yankees will want a 3B in return for ARod. With that lineup they can afford to have one hole in there.

Cashman ain't stupid.. he would want Zambrano and a couple of our prospects for A-Rod.

There's no way in hell I would trade Zambrano for A-Rod straight up let alone adding two or three prospects.

The thing is, he's not getting somebody better than Zambrano. So, if he'd demand prospects in addition to Zambrano, he'd be asking way more than anybody else can give him.

A Cubs-Yanks trade wouldn't fit. The Yankees need major league ready pitching and the Cubs only have Zambrano to offer and that wouldn't be anywhere near what they want for A-Rod.

Now, if ol' Jimbo can convince Cashman that Hill, Pie and Gallagher (or someone close to his talent) is equal to A-Rod, then Jimbo would be a freakin' genious

Zambrano isn't the only major league ready pitching. He's the only established stud pitcher, but that's not the same as major league ready.

Funny thing, right after my original response, the biggest Yankees fan in my office came up and said, "You can have ARod, I want to get rid of him." Before he was saying he wants Zambrano and Ramirez. Now he wants a couple young arms and then find a third baseman elsewhere.

Obviously, he's not Cashman, but I think that's what is going on in Yankee land now. An ARod trade is either going to happen for $0.75 on the dollar, or it's not going to happen. The last guy they talked about like this was Soriano, who they wanted hung up for being such an easy out.

Anyway, it wouldn't have to be a 1/1 trade.

That's interesting. Does A-Rod feel it is imperative to right the legacy in New York? Or would he rather write a new one somewhere else? If he could lead the Cubs to the Series, he would do more than he ever could in that packed New York lineup.

You're right, Cashman isn't stupid. He also knows there are FEW teams that can take on ARod's contract; excluding Boston for obvious reasons, you have the Cubs/Dodgers/Angels/White Sox. Arod has already said HE WON'T play for the White Sox and Ozzie Guillen is the MAIN reason. The Angels/Dodgers have the prospects, but would the be willing to trade said prospects, even tho both need another major bat? Stoneman definately is man reluntant to trade his prospects. The Dodgers, have Furcal at SS, and that is where his value is, not 2B, or 3rd, but SS. So, Cashman is definately going to have to get creative if he plans to move ARod.

And a 31 yr old ARod is not worth Z and a couple of prospects.

This wouldn't be A-Rod's team either. I think it's Lee's team right now, formerly Prior's team.

Yeah but instead of hearing "Derreck Lee and the Cubs take on so and so from the so and so's" on WGN. . .

You'll hear "As DLee and ARod of the Cubs take on so and so of the so and so's". .

I think if he's not the next "Mr. Cub". . He'll be up there with Derreck. .

He's saying he wants to, but there's no way of knowing if that's just a way to not look like a coward, or even a negotiating stance to help direct where he goes.

ARod would be accepted in New York if he had a big playoff push in a World Series winning year. Clemens was hated, but accepted once the team one. He'll never be loved like Jeter, but one WS win would change a lot of minds.
