McGahee needs to be protected on the 40-man at this point. No reason Dopirak shouldn't be moved off of it to make room for Casey. Gotta reward results at some point.

Doparik could be claimed in the minor league phase of the rule 5 and almost certainly would be as there's no risk putting him at AA since that's where the Cubs would send him.

1.) Reward performance?!? Casey's a great guy and all, but we're talking about a player who has never cracked an .800 OPS in the minors. I'm really happy he's doing well in the Mexican League, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

2.) Dopirak would be claimed off waivers if he were removed from the 40 man. Other teams wouldn't even have to use the Rule 5 to do so.

Dope is coming off an injury plagued year. Let's give him a chance to show what he can do when healthy.

Not sure what McGehee's k/bb rate is in the minors, but I'm impressed with this kid. Looks like he has the tools to be a pretty decent major league hitter. His glove doesn't appear to be all that, however.

Yeah, thats a lot of errors in a short period of time. Is his fielding going to be a barrier to making it as a utility guy?

McGehee was drafted as a catcher so he has that on his resume to help as far as being a utility guy goes. He also played a few games at 2nd base which also helps.

As far as the errors go, I always take errors in winter ball with a grain of salt because the fields aren't always in very good condition. His errors for the minor league season should give a much better indication of what his defense is really like.
