2007 Schedule Thread - Officially Released! (Update 9/28)

Posted (edited)

I know this is a bit premature, but the White Sox sent out a press release that tells their tentative schedule, and their two series against the Cubs are listed. So as the winter goes on, this could be a thread that is bumped as other teams release their schedules or if the Cubs actually release theirs first.

Note: The NL Central supposedly will be playing the AL West in interleague play this year. On an A's blog, I found out that the A's will NOT be one of the teams that the Cubs play. However, according to the following link from a Pittsburgh paper, we will be playing the AL Central again: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06223/712802-63.stm

You'll probably have to commit to keep editing the first post of the thread. :)

The Atlanta Braves have posted their Tentative '07 Schedule.

Cubs @ Braves April 18 & 19

Braves @ Cubs June 1-3

Cubs @ Braves June 7-10

That seems an odd setup and I wouldn't be surprised if it changed. The NL East is playing the AL Central in interleague in '07, but I would think they'd have a separate designation for the WSox vs the Cubs (and it wouldn't be a 4-game interleague series).

Didn't the Cubs have a tentative 06 schedule out almost as soon as 2005 ended? I seem to remember being surprised at how quickly it came out.

At least there are some september Cardinal games, but man they like to schedule those in early in april...

Since the Cubs can beat the Cardinals, it's to give us all false hope for the rest of the season.

The Cubs are playing the Astros in Houston on August 6-9 and September 11-13.

Odd. Apparantly the Cubs don't play the Angels next year either. So, they'll only play the Mariners, Rangers, and White Sox in Interleague Play? Something's not right here.

^^ Added, thanks for the good find. Not sure what the deal with interleague play is this year as I said in my previous post. We are supposed to play the AL West, and so far the Astros and Cardinals are doing this exact thing. The Pirates however are playing the AL Central. I am assuming that since there are 4 teams in the AL West and 6 in the NL Central, each team will play at least 2 series against AL West teams. The Pirates will be the exception and will play the AL Central. This is what I've dug up so far from the AL West and NL Central teams:

Cardinals:

@ Royals

vs. Royals

@ A's

vs. Angels

Pirates:

@ Seattle

@ Indians

vs. Angels

Astros:

@ Texas

vs. Texas

vs. A's

vs. Mariners

@ Angels

(something isn't right here...)

Cubs:

@ White Sox

vs. White Sox

(Will not play A's according to A's blog, Angels according to posted link)

Reds:

vs. Angels

Brewers:

The Brewers are going to play the Royals next season.

I'm excited about the Cubs playing the Rangers at Texas. I'll be able to make all those games since my sister-in-law lives 15 mins away from the ballpark.

It's also a beautiful park. Any NSBBers making the trip, let me know.

Brewers schedule is out.

Link.

Here's how it relates to the Cubs

April 6-8 @ Milwaukee

April 23-25 vs Milwaukee

June 4-6 @ Milwaukee

June 29- July 1 vs Milwaukee

August 28-30 vs Milwaukee

Just caught that, also added Dodgers and Rockies. Just went through every NL team's schedule page :)

If the Cubs open the season in Cincinnati again I'm going to be unhappy.

Edit - And in fact they will, per this article in the Dayton Daily News.

Eh, I kinda like the tradition. The baseball parade and whatever, everyone talking about how great baseball tradition is in Cincinnati, and then the Cubs put up 15-16 runs on the Reds, then lose the rest of the games in the series.

What's weird is our home opener doesn't come until the next Monday, which kinda stinks. Anyone remember the last time we opened at home?

That's not weird at all. This year was the first time in a while that we even had a first-week home series.

Last opener at home was 2001 against Montreal.

We did in 2005 too

Your post can be interpreted in two different ways. I originally thought you meant we opened at home in 2005, too, which we didn't. Then I realized you meant we had a first week home series in 2005, too.
