ATLANTA -- Former Cubs outfielder Dwight Smith, a member of the Atlanta Braves team that won the 1995 World Series, was arrested Friday for cocaine possession during a traffic stop in Peachtree City, Ga.

Police said Smith, 42 and a Peachtree City resident, asked the officer to give him a break because he was a former major-league baseball player.

This happened a few days ago, but I just read about it today.

That's a damn shame, Dwight Smith was one of my favorites when I was youngster growing up Chicago. I even named a pet fish after him. Dude could sing the national anthem with the best of em.
