how does this work...do the cubs set aside some many seats in each section for season ticket holders....like is it the first 10 rows in certain sections or what?? also, is it cheaper to buy season tix, for example if tickets cost on average $30 per game are they $25 or whatever if you buy season tix....also how does the whole playoff thing work....just have a few questions, i am considering getting season tix.....

thanks.....

As a season ticket holder I can answer some of your questions.

I don't know how the Cubs designate how many or shich seats are season tickets.

There is no discount for the season tickets. They are full, single ticket face value.

Playoff tickets are done based on what type of season tickets you get. I have the nights and weekends package and I believe that we get 1 ticket for each seat we own for half of the home games for each series.

cool, thanks...i think now they only offer the full season package, which im not too happy about, but if thats all i can get....well thats all i can do. so in what section are your seats in?? are you ever able to upgrade, like move closer?? i think i will take any seats they offer, but im thinking long term....

my group and I are relative newbys at this. We have been season ticket holders for only 2 years (I think). We have not been able to improve our seating. I do at some point expect to be told that we must purchase the whole season. Nights and Weekends is 55 games as it is so it ain't too far from a full season.

keep feeding the machine, guys. Keep your season tickets, you'll make the ownership happy.

I guess the easy thing to do is criticize season ticket holders. If I lived in the area and was fortunate to have them, I wouldn't give them up. The waiting list is too long. It might be 10+ years before another opportunity to purchase presented itself.

Do I get any points for not going to the games I do have tickets to? I bought them before I knew how bad they would suck, selling them to someone else would just keep the seats full and put more beer and hot dog money in the Cubs pockets. I have only gone to about 2-3 games this year even though I had tickets to about 15. I figure I'll show up to watch when the players show up to play.

We will seriously consider not going again next year.

As a season ticket holder since 1984, I can answer the question about moving.

Yes, the Cubs have let you upgrade where your season tickets are, based on availablility. When you renew, they ask if you want to move, you check the box and after they get all their renewals back, if there is somewhere to move, you will be contacted and asked if you want to move there. Since I like my seats, I have not moved since 1996, but in the past, I have moved 4 times (once not by my choice, in 1984 & 85, I was able to get field boxes on a partial plan. when the eliminated the ability to get field boxes with a partial plan, I was moved to the terrace boxes).

BTW, in the years I have had my plan (I started out with weekends, and then when night games were added, it went to weekends and nights), the Cubs have eliminated partial plans 3 times (and grandfathered in everyone who had them at the time). Twice they went back to offering partial plans after season ticket sales went down. With the dismal years lately, I predict there will be a drop off of the 2003 band wagon jumpers and the waiting list will dwindle and eventually disappear. WHen this happens , partial season plans will once again appear.

I plan on it. Holding season tickets makes me very happy.

Perhaps the only bright side to this terrible season.

Just for clarity, when they elimiated partial plans before and grandfathered in everyone who had them at the time, you mean that they did not make people who had partial plans purchase full season plans, they only made new season ticket buyers buy full season ticket plans. Right?

Yep, you are right. I have always had a partial plan (first weekends only, then weekends and nights). When they eliminated the partial plans in the past , everyone who had one at that time were allowed to keep it (like the current situation). New season tickets sold were full season tickets.

I don't hold season tickets, but a family member has for a long time. The options for new season ticketholders vary by year and demand ... so whatever they're telling you now is legit.

Rumor has it that there's only one grandfathered nights-and-weekends bleacher partial plan season ticketholder (with more than one 'seat'), but I don't know if that's true or not.
