Even if he did, and I agree that he meant with the US (whether he said it or not), it's still stupid. Had we drawn this game, it wouldn't have mattered too much. Take care of business at home, and we still qualify for the World Cup and nobody cares about some random qualifying tie in Jamaica. And if we tie this game and don't qualify for the World Cup, we still would have had to blow some other just as winnable games down the road, likely at home (which would be worse).

First place currently 7 points (Costa Rica, US, Mexico) with Panama at 6 points and Honduras at 4. I expect Honduras to win tonight (effectively burying Jamaica at 6th), so 5th place isn't so far away with a slip up.

 

One of USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama won't make it, and right now Panama and Honduras seem to be in the worst shape overall based on road performance and schedule to this point.

Yeah, 16 appears to be the magic number so if we beat Honduras, Jamaica and Panama at home, at the very least we'll get the fourth place playoff with New Zealand and will likely get third.
