That'll be fun. :D

Anderlecht vs Lyon for local interest here. 8-)

And my boys vs Lech Poznan for a spot in the Europa League groups.

Add Jermaine Jones (M), Maurice Edu (M), and Marcus Hahnemann/Troy Perkins (GK) and you basically have our 23 for the WC.

I also think there's a chance that Hejduk makes it because you probably want 8 on Defense in case of injuries/cards. Pearce could make a comeback and supplant Bornstein. There will be a surprise or two as well... (Lets hope they aren't in the form injuries). Here's my 23 (dropping Casey):

Keepers - 3 (Howard, Guzan, Hahnemann)

Defense - 8 (Onyewu, Bocanegra, Spector, Cherundolo, DeMerit, Marshall, Hejduk, Bornstein)

Midfielders - 8 (Dempsey, Bradley, Clark, Jones, Edu, Holden, Feilhaber, Torres)

Mid/Forward - 1 (Landon)

Forwards - 3 (Altidore, Davies, Ching)

This Real Madrid thing is fun.

Good god. I know it's just crappy Toronto, but every touch, every pass and every finish is, to borrow a phrase from Ray Hudson, magisterial.

And yet it's tempered by the fact that Toronto FC suck, and suck hard.

Rafa Marquez is out of the game next Wednesday, which is both good and bad.

How many years does Mo Johnston have to be in the league before he realizes you can't build a team on Championship level players and be any good? He's got DeRo, Frei, Guevara, Wynne and dog crap. Gerba, Dichio, etc.

Had a dream last night that I was on the USMNT and went with the team to the Azteca, except we played an indoor soccer game instead. I scored six goals and we won 13-2. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come on Wednesday.

Johnston does a really poor job of understanding MLS. I think its arrogance more than any other thing.

MLS isnt great, but its better than the Colaship.

I hope this isn't a trend, but Sochaux started one up top. Davies came in the 71st.

Holy s, check out this volley from Landon. About 1:20 in: http://web.mlsnet.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5994545

Left footed sickness.

It doesn't seem that long ago when I was annoyed and tired of him. His form as of late has been unreal, I would love to see him over in Europe for the next 10 months. That volley remind me of the one I score on last night in my coed indoor league ;-).

Clint reworked his Fulham deal. 4 years, $3,034,379.90 PER.

This is a good thing. Id rather he stay at Fulham where he's first choice than go to an Everton and struggle for PT.

I couldn't get Wednesday off which sucks.

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/

The Insider is getting word from contacts close to Danish and American soccer that Freddy Adu is in final negotiations with Odense on a one-year loan from Portuguese club Benfica. If all goes well, he would be formally introduced this week. Adu, 20, is in the third year of a five-year deal with Benfica and played sparingly while on loan at French club Monaco last season.

Odense finished second in the Danish Superliga last season and is coached by former Denmark national team defender Lars Olsen. The club will face Genoa in a Europa League playoff later this month.

If this doesn't work, say hello to MLS.

Man, he should just come back to MLS now. Denmark?

So I'm starting to get kind of pumped about Wednesday.

I'm very pumped. I plan on just ignoring the Cubs till Thursday, don't want them ruin my mood.

It's a money thing. He's making 900,000+ Euro. These loans get his money off of Benfica's books. No one in MLS is going to pay Freddy that kind of cheese. Plus the whole pride thing.

"Landon doesn't deserve to start every game. He should only start games in which he fits the tactics.

The game in Mexico is pointless. We can't win. It's impossible. We shouldn't even show up. We're going to get killed. Don't have any expectations.

Stuart Holden is as good a free kick taker/corner taker as David Beckham.

Steve Cherundolo should start over Jonathan Spector."

"This game is going to be fun for the Mexican public. We aren't going to be able to stop them.

I'll go conservative. 2-0 Mexico. If we get one, I'll feel good about it.

I think Sacha's happy he's not going to Azteca."
