The cubs should be jerks and claim him on waivers

Why would we want to be jerks to the Red Sox? I can think of alot of teams I wouldn't mind screwing, but Boston isn't one of them.

Especially not if we're risking ending up with Javy freakin Lopez.

Are you kidding? Red Sox fans are worse than Yankee fans since 2004.

So are they booing Manny and Ortiz because they aren't hitting .350 like they are in NY about A-Rod?

The Cubs would come after the Red Sox in the waiver priority.

Since Lopez is on the O's:

AL #14

Come on, RS... I love the Cubs, but Cubs fans are far worse than Red Sox fans. I don't know of a whinier fan base than the Cubs, and if we ever do win a World Series... I cannot imagine how obnoxious our fans would become. Heck, we're a laughingstock and still obnoxious.

I may have had that opinion in the past as well, but then I lived on the east coast for awhile. You would be hard pressed to say anything about Cub fans after listening to Met/Yankee/Jets/Giant fans on WFAN. Especially Met and Jet fans when times are tough!

I have my problems with Cubs fans too.

Actually, they were pretty annoying before 2004, also. They had what I call "The Fake Curse." Red Sox fans, WANT everybody to feel their plight against the Yankees. Now I dislike, of the Yankees and their fans, but more recently, that disdain has become more consistant with Boston.

I am, however, shocked that the Yankees did not claim him just to screw with Boston.

They can't. Javy was put on waivers when the division was tied. In that case they go back to 2005, but that was also a tie, so they go back to 2004, when the Yankees had the better record.

He was offered to Boston before the Cubs. It's reverse order of the standings in the league he's waived. And why would we want to screw the Red Sox. The Cardinals and White Sox are the teams we should screw.

When they were tied for GB, the Yankees had a better record by percentage points, so they were technically in 1st, and the Red Sox were in 2nd.

i really thought that he'd go out to that graveyard for old ballplayers and never be heard from again, weird.

i'd forgotten that lopez even existed. who in their right mind would go to baltimore? tejada, a former MVP who is having his best season--is barely even heard from playing there.

This ones official. For cash and PTBNL.

Good deal by the Sox. Get a replacement for Varitek, they probably don't have to pay much of his salary if any at all, and he'll be a FA after the year so the Sox aren't tied down next year.
