Anyone else starting to get the feeling that all the other NL Central teams are getting better while the Cubs just keep getting worse? I feel like we're going to be battling the Pirates for last place in the division the next couple of years. :x

Honestly, I dont feel the same.

And why the heck are the Astros so quick to want to drop Ensberg?

No. In fact, going into the season the common perception was that the Astros and Cardinals regressed bewteen 2005 and 2006 (and they have), while the Cubs, Brewers, and Reds had gained (2/3 correct). The NL Central was billed as the tightest division to start the season, and it was in April.

Only the Cubs have not lived up to expectations.

I dont mind to see Miggy traded... but if its not to the Cubs... I really dont want him in our division. Especially not with Houston or St. Louis

Are the Cubs really in a position to make themselves better at this time. How many teams 18 games out of first and 13.5 games out of the wild card really improve at the trade deadline. If they traded for prospects, they won't show it for another year or so. I don't see what good it does to trade proven Major League talent for Minor leaguer prospects that may never turn out to be anything. It's not like th Cubs can't afford to pay them.

nobody is advocating making a run at the playoffs this year or picking up Lee or Zito or Soriano right now. the idea is to make the team better going into 2007. why shouldn't the Cubs be interested in a player like Tejada with three years left on his reasonably priced contract?

the Cubs are in a perfect position to improve this team for 2007 right now, but time's running short.

Hey don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the Cubs get Tejada. But I think clubs that are still in the race would be willing to give up more. I'd love for the Cubs to get Arod without giving up Ramirez. Ramirez, Rodriquez, Cedeno, Lee, and Barret looks like an awesome infield to me. I just don't want to see the everyday vet players moved for prospects.
