Especially this year when he comes in proclaiming to have not picked up a ball since last September. What is that all about??

I remember something about him being pretty sick last winter, and that being why he hadn't been throwing. ANYONE rememberwhat that was about?

I remember he had some type of virus that sapped his strength for awhile. I don't remember whether he actually had to be hospitalized or not.

Apparently he needs to be kept in a germ-free plastic bubble filled with training equipment and a practice mound in the off-season.

I blame all that anti bacterial hand soap for all the injuries the Cubs have had. You have to eat some dirt sometimes and build up your defense system.

He had a respiratory infection that if, I remember correctly, he went to the emergency room either Christmas Eve or New Years Eve...or somewhere around there.

He just blamed The Goat for his oblique injury. No, I am not kidding.

I saw that and was disapointed as well. This team needs to be run by a witch or something since we believe in hexes, curses, and the evil media curse.

Always an excuse. ....always. Build a better team and you'll see the excuses go away.

Johnnie B. Baker, excuse maker.

The writer wrote that part of the article as though he were kidding...at least the Trib article. I think its ok to joke around a little now that the season has been saved.

The SunTimes article highlighted that particular comment.

It's hard to know the context or how it was said -- tongue-in-cheek, throw-away comment, etc. -- but it's really disappointing to hear Prior reference the goat / jinx thing, even jokingly. When players talk about it it only fuels the superstition. Lord knows we've all seen the goat enough on FOX Sports alone, complete with obnoxious graphics.
