He's been pitching for Iowa. He's started some games, but I think he's working out of the bullpen now. In 51 innings for Iowa he has a 4.38 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP. Not exactly tearing up AAA ball. :x

That should command a solid C-list prospect in trade.

The Cubs could just keep him as their own C-list prospect and save on the paperwork.

That's what happens when you're throwing flat mid-80s FBs with average-at-best sliders. :(

The rumor is that the Cubs tried to trade him for a box of Doughnuts....

He ate them as soon as he heard he was dealt

He has been ambushed by left-handed hitters, who are batting .367 with eight home runs, five doubles and 40 hits in 24 2/3 innings against him. Overall, he is 2-3 with a 4.30 ERA in 52-plus innings.

When Williams was first sent to Iowa, pitching coach Alan Dunn noticed that he had gotten into a habit of shying away from the strike zone.

As of late, Williams has shown a more aggressive approach, Dunn says, which might explain his much improved month of June in which the right-hander had a 2.89 ERA and 12 strikeouts to just one walk against 77 batters faced.

All of the pitchers under the direction of Rothschild shy away from the strike zone. It's pretty good when our minor league coaches have to undo what our major league coaches do to our players.
