Is this outfield statistically worse than last years through this point? I know it would seem hard to believe last year that it could get worse, but geez this is pathetic.

BOTTOM OF THE SEVENTH INNING

Cedeno lined out to left center field

Blanco singled to left field

Bynum, pinch hitting for Guzman, struck out swinging

              1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
Detroit 2 2 0 0 1 0 0 5 9 1
CUBS 0 1 0 1 0 0 0 2 5 0

Home runs: Detroit: Thames (13) - CUBS: Blanco (1)

Who'd a thought Blanco would be the best hitter on this team?

So if Barrett is dinged up, why not just start the suspension now?

That would be the smart move.

They can't until they hear back from the appeal process. Which prolly will be on Monday.

he could have dropped his appeal.

Man he sucker punched the guy on national tv. I loved it, but he prolly should have gotten more games for having the gall to appeal.

Everybody appeals no matter what they do, Kenny Rogers appealed beating up a camera man and got it reduced.

His OPS rose like 150 points today.

OPS back below 690? You have to do what you can to get that man more plate appearances.

But he's so FAST and OPS doesn't take speed into account. Every time he does get on base, the Cubs score automatically because of the havoc he causes on the basepaths and the pressure he puts on the defense. I'd say a 690 OPS for Fast Freddie translates to at least a 900 when his baserunning is taken into consideration.

And wears out the opposing pitcher's arm with all of those throws to first base, meaning the starter has to come out earlier and the Cubs get to face relievers who aren't as good as starters or they wouldn't be relievers. Except for closers, who are better than some starters.

Little Murton (who is not so little) mixing things up in the CWS. He is frustrated and pushed the Clemson baserunner at first base.

Murton is having a rough inning. He lost his glove on one pick-off attempt.

Clemson has exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the 8th. Colvin batting for the second time in the inning with runners on 1st and 3rd.

Clemson wins 8-4. With all of these comebacks, I'm beginning to think they are a team of destiny.

Meanwhile, the Cubs are a team of Dustiny. Last place here we come.
