Pitcher takes another step to rejoin Cubs

 

The right-hander had five strikeouts and his fastball reached 90 mph at times. He did not walk a batter and threw 43 strikes and 16 balls.

His next start has yet to be confirmed, but he is expected to pitch at the minor league level at least once more.

Next up is at least one more rehab start, mostly likely Thursday at Class AAA Iowa, and possibly a fourth overall.

With no walks and a 43/16 strike/ball split it sounds like he was locating his pitches well.

Good, I'm glad to see the Cubs slowly work him back up. If he's going to make two more starts at the minor league level, which it sounds like he'll do, I'd rather have him pitch one at AA and one at AAA.

I was at the game, as the previous game he pitched in Peoria. He was much more relaxed on the mound on Saturday, and seemed very confident in his pitches. He hit 90 mph I think 4 times. His fastball was pretty consistently around 88-89 mph.

 

He actually kept his pitch count fairly low, which allowed him pitch through the fifth. After watching him, I do believe we will see him back in pinstripes soon! It was a treat.
