i like how people lump pagan in w/ the likes of lee and prior as if his return is going to help the slightest bit.

I didn't mean to imply his return would have much impact, but his injury has been mentioned by Hendry as contributing to the team's struggles.... so as soon as everyone gets back, we can watch the team continue to struggle without excuses.

then hendry is an idiot. i'm pretty sure that a crummy 5th outfielder is not the difference between winning and losing very often.

You don't think they'll come up with new excuses?

I'm sure they will -- but that tight rope gets harder to walk once the injury excuse isn't available. I figure that, optimistically, we may get a 3-4 weeks before the break with the "full" roster playing together. If during that stretch, there is little improvement in the results, then maybe we will actually see significant changes to both the roster and management.

With everyone back from the DL, injuries will still be the main excuse.

If over 500 with everyone back - "dug too deep of a hole"

If under 500 with everyone back - "none were quite at 100%, gamers"

.... its time to really take it up the ying yang as the Cubs get ready for Atlanta, St. Louis, Houston, Cincy, Houston, Detroit, and Cleveland before they take a short break from the above .500 teams in order to get spanked by the Twins. Then we stroll to the break with Milwaukee, the Sox, Houston, and another round of Brewers.

By my count, that's 42 games to the break and only 3 against a below .500 team (and the Twins may have a winning record by then too).

I'm gonna put the over/under on wins in those 42 games @ 10.5..... and that's me trying to be optimistic about DLee, Prior, Miller, Pagan all returning and being effective. So if (taking the under) the Cubs manage to go 10-32, they would get to the all-star break with a record of 28-60 (and be on pace to finish 52-110)!

Anyone think 30+ under .500 by the break gets some attention from the Trib?

I want MacPhail's head. Anything less won't be enough.

I guess all this talk about how tough getting tickets are, along with being scalped by scalpers will all be gone by the end of June early July. They will probably be giving those tickets away, especially if the socks stay on their pace and keep playing outstanding ball. Maybe even some of those fans that infiltrate Wrigley to drink and party, will be taking their business over to cell block instead.

Just think how Wrigley will look once September comes? To quote Green Day, Wake me up, when September ends!

Its already easy -- I know people that have arrived right before first pitch and bought tickets for $5.... This will not be a fun summer for scalpers on the northside -- not that I feel bad for them.
