Uh, the upcoming off-day?

I don't know. Aramis seems to be coming out of it. Beyond that, there's not much.

Any thoughts on Dusty re-signing?

Bruce, could you drop a bug in someone's ear within the organization to stop by the site sometime to get the feelings from the fans? Preferably Mr. Hendry. Boy, a Q&A would be fun with him. Edited by Ding Dong Johnson

At least you made me laugh :D Thanks! Lord knows I needed it.

Everyone in Chicago and the surrounding area can send the message they want... just stop going to Cubs games. It's obvious that they aren't going to get the point any other way.

We have the June 6th draft to look forward to. I can't wait to see how many toolsy, fast atheletes and control-free fireballers the team drafts this year!

I've always been of the opinion that Hendry was looking for the right time to extend Dusty. As of now, I don't know when that time would come.

The May 15 off-day was my bright light of hope last week.

Hey, the Cubs actually have 2 off days in the next week, the excitement grows.

Between this up-coming off day (May 25) and the one on June 12, the Cubs have 3 games vs ATL, 7 vs CIN, 3 vs STL and 3 vs HOU.

This May swoon hasn't been as damaging as it could have been, since it was mostly against non-division opponents and nobody in the division ran away with it. Now, any prolonged slump over the next 3 weeks is going to mean disaster in the standings.

See, this is embarrassing. Rather than take the extra few weeks that the Cubs have been playing like crap as a hint to reevaluate the team and the possibility of signing Baker, Hendry just puts it off until the Cubs string together a few good games. Then, he can give Baker his extension and blame the losses on injuries.

This is why I say they won't get it until people stop going to games. The problems are the same every year, and instead of changing the two most important positions within the organization - GM and manager - they give out extensions. If I did my job as poorly as Hendry and Baker have done their jobs, I'd be scanning the classified section right now. There's no punishment for failure within this organization, and no accountability. The whole thing is one sad joke.

Um, you're a meteorologist. Isn't coming close the main goal in your profession? :P

He had his window when they won 2 in a row against the Nationals. Now it's gone.

Assuming you are correct, it's great (read: not) to to see that Hendry wants to bring back Baker, but is just waiting for the right time when it will be most palatable to the fans. It's like he is playing some kind of PR shell game. Either Baker is the right man for the job or he isn't. Circumstances may eventually force Baker out, but does anybody have any confidence that things will change with a new manager?

This organization is hilariously moronic. As Bruce Miles stated, the only positive right now is Ramirez is coming out of his slump.

Question for Bruce and Truffle:

Any hope for a rain delay or postponement?

Could shower or storm tomorrow, and could shower on Thursday. Likely not enough for a rain out, though. So, it looks like ARam's improvement is the only good news. And, I suppose, nobody has died yet.

Off-days and rain delays will only postpone how quickly can get through 162 games. For those that want this season to end they should play 2 everyday like Ernie wanted.

That might not be all good news.

Not too many, because of Jacque, Bob Howry and Scott Eyre. :(

Not to mention freakishly tall pitchers.

Big Z looks great this month. 3-0 with this offense is def impressive!
