Why delude yourself into thinking this is a good team?

I'm sorry, but I consider myself a realistic fan, not a cheerleader. Just because I'm a Cub fan doesn't mean I have to believe that they're good.

This team is improving and isn't as bad a people would make it out to be. Are they world beaters right now? No, far from it, but I see this team on the up swing. My sample size is smaller then yours. It's more difficult to see improvement in your sample size.

Banedon, you be any type of fan you'd like to be. I believe we're all pulling for the same team.

I just choose to see what the team can do today, tomorrow and next week, not what they haven't did yesterday or 2 weeks ago.

You're looking at yesterday and last week, as well. The only difference is you are weakening your argument by using too small a sample to judge the team. Nevertheless, even in that short time they are still exhibiting the same problems that plagued them before, ie, no offense, occasional implosions by pitchers.

This team is as bad as people are making it out to be, you deliberately choosing to put on blinders and block out the worst parts doesn't change that fact.

Why wallow in what the team failed to do? Can this team improve in those areas? Their last DEAD last in batting. I believe that's a pretty good place to start to improve.

Ronny Cedano putting a couple down the RF line yesterday. Jones actually going with the pitch for a HR. The Cubs hitting in clutch situations. I see that as a good things.

Our most volatile pitcher kept it together with Baseballs biggest jerks trying to get the best of him.

I'd say the Cubs regained a focus during that last game.

Why wallow in what they failed to do? I'm not wallowing, I'm realizing. They failed to do a whole lot of stuff. They've been failing to do good stuff for a really long time. It's not wallowing to realize that's indicative of a team that's going to continue failing.

I don't believe they will continue to fail.

You don't believe, or you just want to keep saying that, hoping it will come true? I don't believe they'll lose every game from now until eternity. But their backwards thinking and horrible strategy, not to mention pathetic personel decisions, are a pretty good indicator that they will continue to fail.

Is "sample size" a new euphemism that nobody informed me of?

so, basically, you're fooling yourself. Admirable.

Not really. Just looking for what I consider a much better team to emerge from a couple of very difficult weeks.

I'm not seeing a team ready to phone it in.

When I saw neifi perez lay down that bunt, I knew this season was over.

Getting smoked by the Marlins in game one. 3 hitter getting tossed against them by the guy they traded for Pierre. There's that improvement you were talking about.

Man, I am simply sweltering under all these layers of improvement.

Cubs are playing .500 baseball in their last 2 games! HIGH FIVE!!!
