The Padres are scorching hot because they got 7 games with us. They may be playing good baseball right now, but we've made them look like the 85 Tigers coming out of the gate.

Very good point. The Nationals and White Sox are licking their chops right now.

i don't know how people defend this team. they SUCK. they're god-[expletive]-AWFUL. the range of emotions i go through watching a game these days varies from blinding anger to laughing at what a joke the cubs have become. that being said, i love this team more than anybody, and it pisses me off to see them play like a bunch of 13 year old girls on a daily basis. despite my love for the cubs, i can still admit that they are awful. i don't know how any rational person can actually defend, or even worse, make exscuses for this team.

13 year old girls everywhere take exception to what you just said.

If a person falls down 8 times, I worry more about why he is falling down than am impressed that he keeps getting up. That concern increases when that person is falling down because he keeps tripping over the same obstacle. Is he not watching? Does he think there will be a different result if he doesn't pick up his feet?

To butcher a somewhat famous line, the definition of insanity is continuing to do something the same way and expecting a different result.

My attitude right now is hope for the best but expect the worst. There's nothing that makes me think a turnaround is likely at this point (I considered firing Dusty during the off-day an absolute must). However, I'll still watch them because I'm still a fan, and I'll hope for a miracle. I'm just not holding my breath for it.

My attitude is just to win the next game. Keeping the game simple and playing it to the best of the Cubs ability which hasn't been good lately.

The players and team will be better then before.

It's hard to play nice when a Baker extension is just around the corner.

Fans have every right to be despondent. The train wreck isn't going to stop.

This reminds me of an Anthony Hopkins' line in "Proof": "Crazy people don't sit around wondering if they're crazy."
