Whatever you do, don't let your tickets fall into the hands of the enemy. Better to eat them than to let some sorry Sox fan have them.

That's pretty much the worst idea I've heard. If some White Sox clown is willing to give me his life savings for two tickets, I'd be foolish not to take it.

Please. We're all human beings, no need to let sports loyalty cloud your judgement to the point that you sound like a maniac. Show some respect.

Also, I understand any criticism about a lot of the fans at the park or the park itself. If you're a fan of Wrigley, then going to the Cell is a completely different experience, i.e. less historic. The fans aren't great, but I've found that most every ballpark contains these types of people.

JR isn't rational when it comes to hating the Sox. His hatred runs deeper than you care to find out

You couldn't pay me enough to watch a game at that abortion of a ballpark full of mouth-breathing wife beaters.

Stay home. Why give the Sox money so you can be miserable for three hours?

I was at The Cell the second weekend of the season this year. I hadnt been there since 2003, and that place looks great. Step into the gate, THEN knock the park if you still have a problem.

Seconded. They've made some great changes in the past few years.

And as for Sox fans, I know quite a few of them, and while you can certainly fault their judgement, for the most part they're just regular people.

All the Sox fans I've met here at school are nothing but classy. They don't even bash us anymore...they just pity us...which is actually worse. Sigh..

Not going to lie, I really like what they've done to the Cell since it opened. I actually tend to go there sometimes just to enjoy a modern baseball experience. Actually, since I don't have a favorite team playing, I go there to enjoy baseball for baseball. I have no complaints with the Cell.

Their fans....thats a different story. I won't get into the time I admitted my Cub fandom to some (rather large) Sox fans in the UD and was then followed all the way down to the Bullpen Sports Bar with them screaming homophobic names behind me all the way down (and I'm not gay, but I guess my choice of teams makes me I guess). Pretty pathetic, I know its just a small sample, but I find that lesser examples of this are the norm rather then the exception.

Why would you be foolish to not take less than face for the tickets?

Wow, I really can't tell if that's sarcasm or not.

He doesn't have to respect Sox fans on a Cubs message board.

Quoted for truth.

I would literally eat the tickets before selling them to a Sox fan at any price.

Fair enough. But this whole "Sox fans are trash" stuff from J.R. is just annoying. I get it, you hate them. You'll literally eat the tickets? Really?

I echo UM's sentiments. I went to 20-25 games at the Cell last year and the park's improvements are fantastic. Much better place to see a game than it used to be, I enjoy myself there. AND I agree on the fans. All you have to do is walk from the L to the field and you will be bombarded by double digit numbers of t shirt vendors selling anti cubs stuff. Now we aren't talking about "Cubs suck" we are talking about graphic pictures of stick figures fellating with the caption "Cubs blow", "Wrigley field, worlds largest gay bar", "Southside hit men" with a cub logo with bullet holes and so on. I swear there were nearly as many people (mind you this is all throughout last year) wearing anti cubs gear as pro sox gear. I have many many sox fan friends and regarding chicago baseball their mentality is just so different than cubs fans on the whole. Even after the championship there is such a loathing inferiority complex in them. I always used to say that my favorite team was the cubs and my second favorite team was "whoever is playing the sox", but sox fans really take it to another level.

You remind me of the Toyota fans who hang out at a GM site I frequent. Why would you expect anything else here?

To answer your question ... if eating the tickets is (A), and selling them to you is (B), I'm taiking (A) every time.

While I don't go to the lengths some do in my disliking of the Sox, if you're a fan of theirs, come on, what do you expect at a Cubs board? It's cool that we can have rational and non-[expletive] discussions over a ton of topics, but if the Cubs fans here on the Cubs message board want to indulge in some hyperbole when bashing the Sox, hey, to be honest, suck it up. This is where we should be able to do that in "peace," as it were.
