Not only is the current rotation homegrown but the two guys on the disbled list are also products of the Cubs system. So the Cubs are 7 deep in SP (I guess really only potentialy so far as Guzman and Hill have not established themselves yet - Marshall has been pretty impressive though)

How unusual is this?

Has this happened on previous Cub teams? I don't recall it if it has.

What about other teams? Did the A's have an all homegrown rotation recently or this year?

I will hold off my jubilation for when they start pitching better as a whole. A great game by Marshall will not erase the crap we endured over the weekend. While they are 2nd in K/9 and BAA, they're 9th in ERA, 8th in WHIP, 8th in OPSA, 12th in K/BB. These are all NL rankings, not MLB.

The fact that we have 3 rookies (Does Hill count?) in the rotation is insane. The fact that so far the have outproduced 2 more veterain pitchers (Williams and Rusch) is even more incredible.

I just hope Marshall can continue to produce and that Guz and Hill can do well.

Just offering my point of view. I don't really consider Maddux homegrown in the traditional sense. His position is really more of a free agent signing.

While it's exciting that we have 3 rookies in the rotation, I'd rather not have them there.

I'm very nervous about today's game. Guzman hasn't particularly impressed me like Marshall has. For that matter, I'm gonna be very nervous when Hill pitches as well. He got knocked around something fierce last year.

He is homegrown with a breif hiatus in Atlanta.

I definately consider Maddux homegrown - with someone like Murton it could be a different story - I am not sure I would consider him home grown. Not that it really matters - just one of those things to talk about.

Maddux is without question homegrown. Homegrown means that the player was developed in the system, not that he spent the majority of his major league career with the team.

I am fully aware of what the term means, and certainly the production we got from him the first go around was home grown.
