Here's praying for another Gem from Mad Dog...

I think he can do it, but he's going to need SOME run support. But the 20-year plus Cub fan in me feels that a good performance will be counterbalanced by NO RUNS. Then Crusty will trot out Williamson (or someone else not named Howry, Eyre - is he still out?, or Dempster) after Greg is done for the day, and the Cards will get the sweep in their back yard this time.

And just after looking so flat the last couple of games, they string together some hits and make it look like everything's going to be all right.

 

That is just so Cubs. Stringing us along in the process.

 

Even if our season is in dire straits, I must say watching Maddux do what he's doing at this stage of his career has been MARVELOUS. 8)

I think this is just what we need. In situations such as we're in right now, the vets need to step up. Maddux has risen to the challenge. Z needs to follow, and hopefully everyone else will fall into place.

I think what this team needs is Prior or Wood to come back and start kicking some tail. That would be a morale booster.

 

So true. I can tell you, I will feel alot better when I see woody back, and if he has a good game. It will give ME a morale booster. :lol:

I hope he comes back healthy but it's not even a "i need to see it to believe it" sort of thing. Even if he's pitching well I'm still going to think it's too good to be true and he's just going to get hurt again.
