The big shocker is they sent Gerut down! I think they think he's not fully recovered yet? Although, McCloth had a great spring!

I'm annoyed they gave the fifth starter spot to Santos. The man did nothing to earn it. I think he's just keeping the spot warm until someone else shows they're ready for it, or until Kip is ready to pitch.

Speaking of Kip, I read an interesting thing about him yesterday: His arm is fine, health wise. It wasn't affected by the surgery. It could be just a matter of him healing and building himself up. No one is really sure when he'll be back as there's little precident (sp?) for this injury.

I have a feeling that Voglesong will be traded today or tomorrow.

Did we really just name Victor Santos to our starting rotation?

Santos is a guy (along with Kip Wells) that the Pirates will hope to land more prospects for at the deadline. It also gives the young pitchers a little more time to get ready for the majors.

The Pirates are a few more years away yet, IMO.

Wells? Yeah. Santos? no way. I'd be surprised if he's still on the team by June 1st. And, I'm not expecting us to send him down, but to cut him outright.

Maybe I'm only basing my opinion on Santos based on how he's pitched like Cy Young against the Cubs, but I don't think he's all that bad.

Are the Pirates still going with those vest style uniforms? If you ask me, those are the kiss of death because they are so ugly. They aren't going to get out of the basement until they start wearing real uniforms. Same goes for the Reds.

He was 4-14 last year with a 5+ ERA. The Brewers took him out of the rotation somtime after the all-star break.

He didn't earn this spot in Spring Training. He won by default. Not the way we want to do things.

Um......ok.

Is Burnett back now, or does he need more time to rehab?

Not so much rehab as just getting ready? I think, if he had a couple more years of experience, in the same situation he'd be in Pittsburgh instead of Indy.
