Neifi a HR and two pop ups, which one will Dusty Notice?

:?

"Man, that HR really got us going. When Gooz gave up the runs in the bottom half of the inning, man....we had that HR to fall back on. It gave Guzman the chance to relax, man, with a 4-run lead going out there. Man, Neifi saved us, know what I'm sayin'?"

I can see that!! Dusty would give Neifi credit, "if it weren't for Neifi, Guzman wouldn't have been able to settle down. Thanks Neifi for making Guzman a great pitcher!!"

I think people are overreacting a bit when they talk of pitchers "not stepping up" when it comes to this spring competition for the 5th spot (or even 3rd and 4th if you count Williams and Rusch). Spring results flat out do not matter. Some of the best pitchers get rocked and look horrible in spring training. Mediocre players end up looking great from time to time. An ugly innings is really meaningless, even if it happens once every spring game. You have to look at these guys entire body of work to judge who is worthy of the spot. You don't just hand it to the guy with the best spring record. Take this game, according to Bruce's recap, it sounded like Guzman was pretty bad early on, then he settled down. 3 IP with 2 ER, is really bad for the ERA, but it doesn't mean he should or should not get the job to start the season.

I don't mean to be hatin' Goony....but is the photo necessary? It means I can only skim your posts if I'm reading the board while I work. I don't want somebody to walk by my computer with a photo like that on the screen.

Seconded.

Great picture, but I post at work and it's a little dangerous.

And spare me the lecture about posting at work. It's been a long winter for Cubs fans.

Oh, and Go BU Braves!

I don't care about what any of the older guys are doing. I do though, when it comes to the kids, though, fighting for jobs. We all saw what bad springs did for Hill and Choi. I just fear this organization will see a bad outing and dwell on it and completely right off the kid.

Between Guzman & Hill, they've given up only 1 hit.

Poor guy. You know, getting sent to ST in Arizona and all instead of being back in Chicago. We really should stop picking on you.

Thanks for the updates!

Make that 4 k's in 2 innings for Hill. Curve must be working today!

Looking forward to Marshall's start tomorrow.
