I see an Insider article called "Rumor Central: Cubs finding little interest in Walker."

can someone with Insider review and give a synapsis?

I don't have Insider, but they typically get those types of reports from regular Newpapers.

I think they got that one from the Sun-Times.

TOO SOON: General manager Jim Hendry has fielded no calls so far seeking a trade for second baseman Todd Walker. Despite months of rumors about Walker's eventual departure, it's a situation that would have to develop later this month as clubs assess the need to add a hitter such as Walker.

First the Cubs dis Walker and now no one wants him. He must be the most under-appreciated player in the majors. Hopefully we're stuck with him and he platoons with Hairston.

The Sun Times article and the headline on Insider is very misleading. It appears to imply there's no interest. What it actually says is that Hendry hasn't fielded any calls on Walker. Could that also mean Hendry isn't actively shopping him? It's all in how you interpret it.

Pay no heed to those rumors, they are a joke. All insider does is take the gist of articles and try to draw conclusions from them. Much of the time, these are illogical, senseless, or have little to do with the article WHATSOEVER.

I'm not even sure they take the gist. I think they usually try and find one line in the article that can then be manipulated into a catchy headline.

According to the Trib, not only is Todd not on the trading block, but he's the front runner to start at second.

Todd Walker, who spent time on the disabled list last year with a sprained left knee, is considered the front-runner. But Neifi Perez and Jerry Hairston remain in the picture.

"Everybody knows Todd can hit, but I have to keep an eye on him because you don't want him to have anything go wrong with that leg physically after what happened last year," Baker said. "I'm trying to space him there. I know it's a big thing, but we have time. I don't want to make it right now because I don't have to. They're all going to play."
